Donald Trump, Jack Brewer vs. Keith Ellison, Tim Walz, Title IX edition

Keith Ellison and Tim Walz, Minnesota's DFL Attorney General and DFL Governor respectively, decided to sue President Trump in their attempt to eliminate girls and women's rights under Title IX. If successful, Walz's and Ellison's lawsuit would eliminate rights granted to women when Title IX was passed over 50 years ago. The key paragraph in Title IX says "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance[.]"

When women aren't awarded scholarships because biological males have placed higher than, for instance, Riley Gaines in a specific sport, how is that different than there only being men sports where women don't have ma realistic shot at winning? That's the world that existed pre-Title IX.

Keith Ellison isn't worried about protecting women's civil rights. He's interested in scoring political points. He's got an election to win in 2026. Check this out:

“[Minnesota] has veered so far off course that it’s doing the exact opposite of what it once stood for," said Brewer. "It used to be a national leader on Title IX and women’s rights. Now, it’s destroying women’s sports, degrading women and promoting situations where men are physically dominating women."

"It’s heartbreaking for any former Gopher, any former Viking, any professional athlete who’s lived in that great city. It’s embarrassing. It’s shocking. And, to be honest, it’s just devastating," added the former football player.

Keith Ellison is reciting the typical DFL talking points at the end of this video report:

In a statement, Ellison said "I will continue to defend the rights off all students to play sports with their friends and peers. The definition of peer is "a person who is equal to another in abilities, qualifications, age, background, and social status." How is someone who is bigger, faster and stronger be "a person who is equal to another in abilities?" That's the opposite of being a peer. As such, Keith Ellison's words are deceptive and/or dishonest. This lawsuit isn't about equal rights amongst peers. It's about Keith Ellison buying votes after getting his hand caught in the Feeding our Futures cookie jar. Scofflaws like that deserve a comeuppance.

PS- Jack Brewer is right. He said, correctly, that Minnesota "used to be a national leader on Title IX and women’s rights. Now, it’s destroying women’s sports, degrading women and promoting situations where men are physically dominating women."
