The high cost of 'free' health care

Minnesota House Speaker Lisa Demuth issued this statementabout the looming deficit, explaining how expensive 'free' health care is. In this release, Speaker Demuth explained "The Minnesota Department of Health indicates 17,396 people in the state illegally are now enrolled in the state-funded health insurance program, more than twice the original forecast of 7,700. Demuth said the data was not made publicly available and only came to light after persistent inquiries by House Republicans."

Where it says "state-funded health insurance,"it means'taxpayer-funded health insurancew'. Republicans should refuse to fund this program. We're sitting on the verge of a projected $6,000,000,000 deficit. We cGov. Walzn't afford these extravagant, unaffordable programs. Further, Govv. Walz needs to learn that taxpayers aren't ATMs.

Later in Speaker Demuth's statement, she wrote "Unlike traditional MinnesotaCare recipients, Demuth indicated people who are in Minnesota illegally are not eligible for federal funding support. Typically, the federal government covers 90 percent of program costs, with the state responsible for the remaining 10 percent. Because this population is ineligible for federal matching funds, Minnesota taxpayers are covering the full cost of their coverage." In other words, this means another tax increase for taxpayers. That's in addition to the $10,000,000,000 tax hike from 2023 and the DFL Trifecta. It's bad enough that Minnesotans have to subsidize this health insurance program. It's worse that they'd be on the hook for 100% of this program's costs.

“This really comes down to common sense and honoring our priorities,” Demuth said. “We’ve got to make sure taxpayer dollars are going to support the Minnesotans who rely on these services every single day.”
If you're relying on Tim Walz's and the DFL's commpn sense, you're running a fool's errand. the DFL frequently tell us that illegal aliens pay their way by paying taxes. The people that qualify for this program have paltry incomes. Their taxes are limited at best. This program indicates that they don't pay taxes, at least not in any great amount. Check this out:

This is just more proof of the DFL's foolish Trifecta spending spree. This won't make Minnesotans more prosperous. It will make Minnesotans more highly taxed.

During his State of the State Address, Gov. Walz talked about the chaos in Washington, DC, and how President Trump chose to create that chaos. Gov. Walz and the DFL chose to spend far beyond responsible limits. Gov. Walz and the DFL chose to spend every penny of a record surplus and raise taxes by another $10,000,000,000. Again, if you're expecting common sense from Gov. Walz and the DFL, you've got misplaced expectations. The DFL will fail you every time. You have a choice:

Republicans have introduced legislation to repeal the MinnesotaCare expansion for people in the state illegally, citing the need to control costs and protect essential services. Demuth said a repeal would save taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars over the next four years and reduce incentives for illegal immigration to the state.
This program costs too much with a major looming deficit. It's time to tell the DFL there's a better option, a cheaper option. The GOP, both in Minnesota and nationwide, is filled with people with common sense. Wouldn't you prefer politicians with common sense over out-of-control Democrats?
