Lisa Demuth, Republican Party of Minnesota, call Tim Walz out

Republican Speaker Lisa Demuth said a few nice things about Tim Walz's State of the State address while criticizing Gov. Walz, Minnesota's DFL governor. In her stateement, Speaker Demuth said "The governor issued his annual State of the State speech on Wednesday. I am pleased with a couple of acknowledgements he made, such as the $6 billion deficit we now face after Democrats in full control of the Capitol the last two years spent our $18 billion surplus and increased state spending by 40 percent."

Even while Speaker Demuth expressed gratitude, Speaker Demuth still reminded Minnesotans that Gov. Walz turned a projected $18,000,000,000 surplus into a projected $6,000,000,000 deficit while raising taxes by $10,000,000,000. That's the ultimte backhanded compliment.

While Speaker Demuth was semi-diplomatic, the Republican Party of Minnesota was less than diplomatic. In their statement, the Republican Party said "Tonight, Governor Tim Walz delivered his State of the State Address. As expected, it was full of applause lines, distractions, and spin—but sorely lacking in truth. What Minnesotans needed to hear tonight wasn’t polished rhetoric. They needed accountability. They needed a plan. And they didn’t get it." Here's Gov. Walz's State of the State Speech:

Here's the full statement from the Republican Paarty of Minnesota: Here's another important paragraph from Speaker Demuth's statement:
From there, it is unfortunate the governor’s speech devolved into a finger pointing where he focused more on Washington, D.C., than Minnesota. It would have been better to hear a more bipartisan tone, reflective of our split House and closely divided Senate. We know the governor’s finger pointing won’t fix our roads and bridges, bring down energy costs or provide for our schools. The focus should be on governing here in Minnesota. Even with a 23-day delay to the start of the session in the House because our Democrat colleagues did not show up for work, we can still get our budget work done in a bipartisan fashion and on time by May 19.
In short, Gov. Walz failed his leadership test like he's done so many times before. This is typical Walz chaos:

Tim Walz is great at pointing fingers. He's worthless at troubleshooting.
