Tom Homan: Trump administration employee of the week
Homan was appointed border czar a week after Trump's election. Homan had a plan for mass deportations almost from the start. Kamala Harris didn't put a deportation plan. She wasn't interested in that because Joe Biden wanted open borders. President Trump wants our borders sealed tightly ASAP.
Sunday, Homan visited Chicago as part of President Trump's mass deportation program. Homan said "It's what President Trump has been saying since day one. We’re going to focus on public safety threats first, and that’s what we’re doing here today." Promises made, promises kept is off to a good start. That's what Homan needs to build trust in his deportation program.
The people voted for the deportations so it was important to get off to a fast start. Still, it was essential for Homan’s deportation program to have an error-free start because Homan wanted to highlight his expertise in running such major operation.
Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker appeared on CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday morning and discussed how Illinois will navigate interacting with ICE agents. "Let me start by being clear that when we’re talking about violent criminals who have been convicted and are undocumented, we don’t want them in our state," he said. "We want them out of the country. We hope they do get deported, and if that’s who they’re picking up, we’re all for it."That state law is meaningless. Federal law takes precedent over state law. Period. If you want illegal aliens who haven't committed crims to not get picked up, then let ICE pick the criminals up in jail. The minute ICE has to hunt the criminals in neighborhoods is the minute collateral arrests happen. The best way to avoid collateral arrests is to invite ICE to the jails. Check this out: Homan is implementing a 'Worst First' policy. Dangerous criminals are ICE's highest priorities. That doesn't mean everyone else is off-limits. It just means that there's a hierarchy of who gets charged first. Finally, there's this:However, he said, there's also a law on the books in Illinois that states local law enforcement will stand up for law-abiding undocumented people who are "doing the right thing."
Well done, Mr. Homan. Job exceptionally well done.BREAKING: ICE reports 956 arrests of illegal aliens today, a significant increase over prior days.
