Pete Hegseth vs. Lloyd Austin
Patterson wrote "In the wake of another Beltway special smear job originating out of NBC News, but gleefully echoed by CBS and other elite media, 10 anonymous sources have allegedly claimed that Hegseth has a severe drinking problem, and it impacted his performance on air at Fox News. Hegseth vehemently denies it, as do 10 more Fox News current colleagues that have gone on the record to call BS on the NBC story. Before yesterday, there seemed to be a growing sense that there were going to be too many Republicans in the upper chamber queasy about walking this plank, and two different names were floated as replacements - Senator Joni Ernst of Iowa, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis."
If this is the best that NBC and CBS have, then Hegseth will get confirmed, then become the next Secretary of Defense. Replacing Austin can't happen soon enough. It's worth noting that NBC and CBS relied on anonymous souces for their stories while Fox, the network that isn't supposed to be a real news network, is on the record with 5 people, aka Lawrence Jones, Steve Doocy, Emily Compagno, Brian Kilmeade and Will Cain.
Former FNC Anchor Gretchen Carlson insisted that the woman couldn't come forward because she'd signed a nondisclosure agreement. That's fair enough. What isn't said, though, is that the NBC article relies on multple anonymous sources. It's difficult to believe that they all have signed NDAs.
Pete Hegseth was interviewed by Megyn Kelly yesterday. He said that he can't wait for the FBI investigation:
LLoyd Austin's unexcused absenceLloyd Austin disappeared for 4 days during a major Middle East flare-up and didn't tell the National Security Council or the White House that he was hospitalized:
Would Afghanistan have happened if Hegseth had been in charge? I'm betting it wouldn't have. If it had, I'm totally certain that Hegseth would've fired a handful of generals before the day had ended. If Biden had balked at the firings, I'm confident that Pete Hegseth would've gone public to disgrace our commander-in-chief. It's time to replace this national security team with the Trump national security team. It can't happen soon enough -- 46 days is too long to wait.
