Bashar al-Assad's Syrian regime has collapsed
The only things keeping the Assad regime alive were Iran, Russia and Hezbollah. After the IDF decimated Iran and Hezbollah, Russia was the only other protector Syria had left. With President-Elect Trump talking ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia, Russia knew that its days were numbered. Apparently, it didn't take rebel forces long to delegitimize the Assad regime. The WSJ is also reporting "Rebel forces poured into the capital overnight, just over a week after launching a campaign that swept through Syria’s biggest cities with lightning speed. Within hours, Abu Mohammed al-Jawlani, who is the leader of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, one of the largest rebel groups that mounted the offensive against Assad, arrived in Damascus."
While he's living in Moscow, perhaps Assad will meet other asylum-seekers living in Moscow. Additional Observation: The best outcome for the warring factions in Syria's civil war would be for them to annihilate each other.
A Piece of Syrian History
Syrians driven into exile by the civil war celebrated its fall. Footage purportedly from the city showed residents tying a noose around a statue of Assad’s father, Hafez al-Assad, who led Syria for three decades, and toppling it.Hafez al-Assad loved mayhem. He was Syreia's leader in the historic 6-Day War in 1967. He later was part of the Coalition Forces that liberated Kuwait at the end of Operation Desert Storm in 1991.
Here's an update from Syria:
Good riddance.
