Is Hennepin County Gov. Abbott's next target?

Quietly, Hennepin County is allegedly paying for the lodging of illegal immigrants at hotels in the Twin Cities Metro. According to Alpha News, "Hundreds of migrants are staying at 'shelter sites' across the Twin Cities metro. Having been sheltered in Minnesota for months, these migrants are largely families who are staying at various Minneapolis area hotels. Alpha News traveled to multiple shelter sites and talked with migrants and hotel staff on the ground."

The first logical question is whether Minneapolis will be the next destination for Gov. Abbott's migrant shipments. Since Minneapolis is acting like a sanctuary city, let's see how it'd handle the responsibility of being a sanctuary city.

Minneapolis isn't the only metro stopping place for migrants. According to Alpha's reporting, "At a La Quinta Inn and Suites in Brooklyn Park, dozens of rooms have been rented out to migrants for months. A manager of the hotel confirmed that Hennepin County is paying for the migrants to stay at the hotel. According to the manager, the hotel has been renting out 40 to 50 rooms for the last six months on the government’s dime."

Liz Collin's Report

If the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul want to act like sanctuary cities, then let's see them do that without any increases in their slush funds. Minnesotans are already paying for this through Minnesota's NGOs and NPOs.

Further, let's stop calling them NGOs, aka Non-Government Organizations, when they receive a significant portion of their funding from the Minnesota state budget. It's time to find a different name for these organizations.

Let's also put permanent rules on these organizations, too. If they're getting money from the government, they must report who's staying at their facilities. If they're getting taxpayers' money, they must report criminal migrants. If they fail to report that, they lose a significant portion of their payment. Taxpayers shouldn't be forced to support criminals. Period.
