Joe Biden, Ukraine vs. Mike Johnson, TX-Mexico Border budget battle

According to Sen. Chuck Schumer, (D-NY), Joe Biden and Mike Johnson engaged in one of the most intense meetings he's ever participated in. Actually, Sen. Schumer sat on the sidelines while Biden and Speaker Johnson spent some time negotiating one-on-one.

The article opened by saying "President Joe Biden and top Democrats and Republicans in Congress on Tuesday made progress toward avoiding a partial government shutdown at the end of the week, but have not cut a deal on paying for weapons for Ukraine's battle against Russia." A deal will get cut once Democrats get serious about shutting the TX-Mexico Border.

The sooner Democrats realize that that's a losing issue for them, especially in light of Laken Riley's murder in Georgia and other crimes allegedly committed by illegal aliens, the sooner they'll settle this negotiation.

That's in addition to Renzo Montes's arrest in Virginia on charges "by the Campbell County Sheriff's Office for sex crimes with a 14-year-old girl. According to investigators, Montes was living in Campbell County, but he is a Venezuelan man, who illegally crossed into the United States." The Campbell County Sheriff's Office reports

"Montes was charged with the following:
  • One felony count of Carnal Knowledge of a Child Without Force
  • One felony charge of Taking Indecent Liberties with a Minor"

The sheriff’s office says Mendoza was detained and released by US Customs and Border Patrol in El Paso, Texas in September 2023.In state after state, border security is listed as the most important issue to voters. This isn't going away. This is a situation that Mike Johnson has leverage on. If Mitch McConnell doesn't stab Speaker Johnson in the back, which is a distinct possibility, this is a negotiation Republicans should win. In his farewell addresss from the Oval Office, Ronald Reagan famously said "I've had my share of victories in the Congress, but what few people noticed is that I never won anything you didn't win for me. They never saw my troops, they never saw Reagan's regiments, the American people. You won every battle with every call you made and letter you wrote demanding action."

People are speaking up about the border. That's what's triggered Biden's trip to the U.S.-Mexico Border. Combining the tragic death of Laken Riley and the outcry from Chicago and NYC, Biden couldn't ignore the border anymore.

UPDATE: Apparently, Mitch McConnell couldn't resist himself. Apparently, McConnell stuck a knife into Johnson's back:

I'll just say this. If Speaker Johnson persists with the message of securing the border is House Republicans' highest priority, the American people will fight with him. This is the leader we need:

We don't need a spineless fossil like McConnell undercutting conservatives whenever he has the opportunity.
