Why is the DFL pursuing soft-on-crime (think New York) policies
If you think that's insanity, it gets worse. Ron Latz, one of the biggest morons in the Minnesota Senate, is the chief author of SF2909. One of the bill's provisions says "Whoever assaults another in whole or in substantial part because of the victim's or another's actual or perceived race, color, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, national origin, or disability as defined in section 363A.03, age, or national origin or because of the victim's actual or perceived association with another person or group of a certain actual or perceived race, color, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, national origin, or disability as defined in section 363A.03, may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than one year or to payment of a fine of not more than $3,000, or both."
It continues:
Whoever violates the provisions of paragraph (a) within five years of a previous conviction under paragraph (a) is guilty of a felony and may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than one year and a day or to payment of a fine of not more than $3,000, or both.Getting one year and/or a $3,000 fine is light for a felony charge. Further, I'm not a prosecutor but this sounds like they're describing a hate crime. They're also describing an assault.
Letting people out of prison early after they've committed a felony is how New York City went from being a safe big city under Mayors Giuliani and Bloomberg, then turned into a hell-hole under DeBlasio, then Adams. Now, Sen. Latz wants to turn Minneapolis into NYC:
