Democrats boycott field hearing on border

For the second straight time, Democrats won't participate in a hearing at the U.S.-Mexico Border. House Homeland Security Committee Ranking Member Bennie Thompson, the man that chaired the made-for-TV January 6th hearings, issued a statement explaining why Democrats wouldn't participate in today's hearing.

In his statement, Rep. Thompson said "After careful consideration, Committee Democrats have decided not to participate in the Republicans’ field hearing this week. Unfortunately, it has become clear that Republicans planned to politicize this event from the start, breaking with the committee’s proud history of bipartisanship. Instead of a fact-finding mission to develop better border security and immigration policies, Republicans are traveling to the border to attack the administration and try to score political points with their extreme rhetoric - despite having voted against the resources border personnel need."

In his statement, Thompson said that Republicans "voted against the resources border personnel need." How would he know? He's refused to meet with border personnel twice. At the February meeting, which Democrats also skipped, Thompson and House Homeland Security Committee Democrats said that they wouldn't participate because the hearing was a PR stunt. This time, House Homeland Security Committee Democrats rationalized their non-participation by saying that Republicans were trying to politicize the hearing.

Next month, what will the Democrats' excuse be for not participating in the next in-field hearing? 

This is proof that Democrats aren't taking border security seriously. Meanwhile, deadly fentanyl, heroin, cocaine and meth get smuggled into the U.S. Meanwhile, the cartels' drug-smuggling business has jumped from being a $500,000,000 a year business to being a $13,000,000,000 a year business.

As for Rep. Thompson, who says that Republicans want to play politics with today's hearing, I'll just throw this back into his mouth:
