Is Minnesota the 'uncivil rights' state?

Image
Minnesota's DFL activist politicians apparently think federal laws don't pertain to them or their programs. They're about to get a hard lesson that Keith Ellison, Tim Walz and future DFL activist politicians shouldn't mess with Title IX provisions. Acccording to this article , the U.S. DOJ "announced a lawsuit Monday against Minnesota and the state’s high school sports league for allowing boys to compete in girls’ sports. According to the DOJ, the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) and the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) have engaged 'in sex-based discrimination by requiring girls to compete against boys in athletic competitions that are designated exclusively for girls and allowing boys to invade intimate spaces designated exclusively for girls.'" With this being a civil rights case, oral arguments will be heard in the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. The Eighth Circuit has one of the lowest rates of cases overturned by the Supreme Cou...

Minnesota is a state in disarray

Image
It's difficult to picture a state in greater disarray than Minnesota, especially since it's become clear that the DFL thinks it's going to win another Trifecta next year. This weekend, I spoke with a GOP operative who is also a daily reader of this blog. This friend told me that the DFL is blocking every prioritized bill that the GOP is pushing. Earlier this morning, I stumbled across this article about Rep. Ben Bakeberg's bill, which "would require websites 'where 25 percent or more of the webpages feature pornography to verify that a person seeking to access the website is 18 or older,' according to a House research summary." Predictably, DFL Rep. Leigh Finke spoke out, saying that "attorneys general in states with age verification laws are 'almost jubilant' about using those laws to ban 'young people from accessing content that could be educational if they are queer.'" Finke continued, saying "Can we get this bill to ...

John Barrasso breaks news on Trey Gowdy's program

Image
Dr. Sen. John Barrasso broke some news while being interviewed by Trey Gowdy on Gowdy's Sunday Night In America program. Early in the interview, Gowdy asked Sen. Barrasso "How does this end. Democrats think that they have a political advantage right now. How do we get out of this?" Barrasso replied "Democrats care more about protecting criminal illegal immigrants than they care about protecting the American people. That's why we're in this situation right now. They want open borders and they want to shut down Immigration and Customs Enforcement and they voted that way in the Senate 7 times in the last couple of weeks. It's disgraceful. ... My hats off to President Trump for decisively telling Democrats 'Look, we're not going to be held hostage by the Democrats, by Chuck Schumer. We're going to pay the TSA agents, which is what he's done. The paychecks will go out tomorrow. I was on the phone with him Thursday night and we agreed we'd ...

Why won't Democrats fund DHS?

Image
I've watched politics since the 1970s. As a senior in high school (1974), I took a class on Watergate WHILE WOODWARD AND BERNSTEIN were investigating the break-in of the DNC Headquarters at the Watergate Hotel in Washington, DC. While that was worthy of impeachment, what's infinitely worse is the Democrats' insistence on not enforcing this nation's immigration laws. Their chutzpah is so in-your-face that they aren't hiding it from anyone. Additionally, they're accusing ICE and Border Patrol agents of wanting to commit murder inside airports, thereby ratcheting up the Democrats' rhetoric to never-seen-before levels. These are elected officials! There's no hesitation in saying this disgusting, dishonest BS. Tim Walz, Minnesota's knucklehead DFL governor, gave the commencement address at the University of Minnesota's Law School. Things didn't turn out too well for 'Tampon Timmy.' That day, Gov. Walz told the graduating class that ICE we...

St. Paul's No Kings Rally report

Image
Anyone thinking that Saturday's No Kings rallies were a grassroots operation isn't thinking straight. Asra Nomani's report` dispatches that BS quickly, saying "A network of about 500 groups with an estimated $3 billion in combined annual revenues is behind the coordinated nationwide 'No Kings' protest Saturday, including communist groups who are using the day to call for a 'revolution,' according to a Fox Digital News investigation." According to this videotaped report , one of the goals of the No Kings rallies is to start a communist uprising. This isn't hidden. It's loud and it's proud. It's in-your-face. Im Ms. Nomani's report, she writes "One message said, "People everywhere are becoming increasingly hostile to the Trump agenda, and more sympathetic to revolution. Now is not the time to sit on the sidelines, it's the time to go out and join the people, get our revolutionary message in front of them, and turn a...

Pat Garofalo's 'sleeper issue'?

Image
Last night during Almanac's Political Roundtable segment, co-host Eric Eskola brought up Minnesota's projected budget surplus for this biennium that's expected to morph into a projected deficit in the next biennium. Specifically, Eskola mentioned "$3.7 billion projected surplus. Are you confident that any of that will get back to the taxpayer in relief in 1 way or another?" Emily Novotny-Chance replied "We'll see. I don't think so. We still have to balance out the (budget) tail." That led into the hottest conversation of the night. Eskola started by asking "Because, down the line, there's a problem. Note that the tab fee thing got beat already in 1 of the committees in the legislature. Jesse Ventura won an election on that." After Jeffrey Hayden's answer, former Rep. Garofalo replied, saying "I think that's a sleeper issue. Not that it's all about me but, hey, it's all about me. My license fees were over $1,000....

Another predictable Schumer Shutdown Showdown dies

Image
Predictably, another Schumer Shutdown Showdown ended, as Ed Morrissey quoted T.S. Eliot here, that another "Schumer Shutdown ended "not with a bang, but a whimper." Another Schumer Shutdown, another whimper, another brave-sounding speech from Sen. Schumer in the middle of the night. Blah, Blah, Blah, Yada, Yada, Yada. Early this morning, CBS reported "The Senate early Friday unanimously approved funding for most of the Department of Homeland Security. The exceptions were Immigration and Customs Enforcement and parts of Customs and Border Protection. The measure now heads to the House for approval." For the past 40+ days, Democrats insisted they wouldn't budge until they got a raft of reforms. Senate Majority Leader John Thune addressed those wished-for reforms, saying Democrats have "been demanding changes in immigration enforcement policies. Senate Majority Leader John Thune told reporters later he thinks 'that ship has sailed, and they kind of ...
