DFL stages gun control sit-in
Further, Fox9 reports that "The protest is a response to Republican leadership not acknowledging the bill, which passed the Senate eleven days ago. The bill aims to ban assault weapons, high-capacity magazines, ghost guns, and binary triggers. It also includes funding for school safety and mental health support."
The dirty little secret is that the bill would pass unanimously or close to it if the DFL left out the assault weapons ban and the high-capacity magazines provisions from their annual assault weapons ban legislation. That would make the bill constitutional. It isn't that Republicans don't care about school safety. It's that they care about the Constitution, too.
The truth is that "gun violence" doesn't really exist. What actually exists is people safety. I've yet to see a gun load itself, aim itself or shoot itself. That's impossible. I've seen people load a firearm, aim it, then fire it. That's plenty possible. Let's focus on what's possible.
p>Unllike the DFL, I prefer focusing on fixing things. I don't focus on the performative or demonstrative. Thursday night, the DFL staged a sit-in after they didn't get what they wanted. Rep. Walter Hudson explained what happened in his Closing Arguments podcast: Rep. Hudson is right. Letting the DFL near power is foolish. The reality is that today's Democrats aren't like the DFL. They're part of the Democrat Socialists of America, aka DSA. The DSA are ruthless communists. Period.
