Minnesota Department of Education admits it's corrupt
Alpha News reports that "The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) says it will now require criminal background checks for “all new hires” and is working to adopt tougher hiring policies—after Alpha News’ exclusive reporting on a convicted sex offender’s employment in a high-level state role." The article continues, saying "The department announced the changes in a letter to Rep. Kristin Robbins, R-Maple Grove, following widespread concern over its hiring of Wilson Tindi, a Kenyan national on the state’s predatory offender registry who was earning $145,000 a year as Director of Internal Audit and Advisory Services."
This is disgusting. Requiring background checks should be taught in Management 101. That this sex offender was hired to a high-paying job at MDE without a background check is unacceptable. This isn't just on Tindi. It's an indictment of MDE's unprofessionalism. This report by KSTP gives Alpha News credit for breaking the story:
KSTP adds to the story by reporting that Wilson Tindi thinks of himself as a victim in this story. That's ridiculous. Further, KSTP reports that Tindi received an award after completing his jsil term. Apparently, nobody within MDE takes crime seriously. Finally, parents and other taxpayers should keep this in mind for the next Minnesota governors race. This isn't just on Tim Walz either. It's on the DFL legislators who didn't conduct proper oversight. This is a whole-of-government abandonment of professional responsibility. For that alone, DFL politicians should be rejected by voters.
