Hakeem Jeffries' anti-prosperity manifesto

The day after President Trump signed the One Big Beautiful Bill, aka OBBB, into law, Hakeem Jeffries issued this statement, which should be considered Jeffries' anti-prosperity manifesto. In the Democrats' anti-prosperity manifesto, Jeffries said "You know, the One Big Ugly Bill hurts everyday Americans and rewards billionaires. It’s the largest attack on healthcare in American history. More than 17 million people will lose their healthcare as a result of this One Big Ugly Bill. It will end, effectively, Medicaid as we know it. Hospitals will close. Nursing homes will shut down. Community-based health clinics won’t be able to operate. And as a result of the fact that so many people will not be able to get access to healthcare, folks are going to die all across the United States of America."

Let's get honest here. Illegal aliens will lose their health insurance. Considering the fact that illegsal aliens overwhelm hospitals, schools and other government services, is that a net negative or a net positive?

Donald Trump's One Big Ugly Bill will hurt everyday Americans and reward their billionaire donors. Republicans are not the party of working class Americans. They are the psarty of the wealthy, the well-connected and the well off. Stop lying to the American people. This dangerous and extreme Republican budget will result in Americans losing their lives because of the inability to access health care coverage. It's unacceptable, unconscionable and un-American.

Most importantly, it isn't true. People will die because of this bill? Based on what? This isa just a repeat of the Democrats' ad of Paul Ryan pushing Grannie off a cliff. It's the same extremist lies. They're just told by a new set of extremists. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Republicans are literally ripping food out of the mouths of hungry children, veterans and seniors. And all of this, Reverend Sharpton, is being done so that Republicans can award billionaires massive tax breaks as part of an effort to jam their extreme trickle-down economic theory down the throats of the American people and explode the debt by more than $3 trillion.

It's time to explode the trickle-down economicspsychobabble. Supplly-side economics was first practiced by by President Kennedy, then by President Reagan. Reagan used a massive Capital Gains tax cut to rebuild Detroit while digging the U.S. out of a) a double-dip recession, b) cutting recession and unemployment in half and c) creating Reagan Democrats, most of whom lived in Macomb County, MI.

At the time, it was thought that Japan would overtake the U.S. as the car-making capitol of the world. Thanks to Detroit's modernization, Japan never became the car-making capitol of the world. The best news was that 22,000,000 jobs were created during the Reagan administration.

The problem that we confront is that Republicans have effectively become a rubber stamp for Donald Trump’s ideology and his extremism, and have chosen to abandon their role as part of a separate and co-equal branch of government.

What's intentionally omitted from that statement is that President Trump won the popular vote while improving his performance with Hispanics and African-American males. In 2020, Biden won by 7,000,000+ votes. In 2024, Kamala Harris received 7,500,000 fewer votes than Biden got in 2020.

Meanwhile, Trump won by 3,000,000 votes in 2024. That's a 10,000,000 vote swing in 4 years. It's worth noting that President Trump campaigned on eliminating taxation on tips and overtime, a pair of Blue-Collar tax cuts, while sealing the U.S.-Mexico border. The One Big Beautiful Bill cut taxation on tips and overtime pay while building the wall after delivering to the American people the safest border in this nation's history.

That means that Jeffries is complaining that Trump and the GOP have kept their promises of middle-class tax relief and shutting the border.

Is Jeffries really upset that the middle-class's checks will be bigger while our borders are more secure? No wonder why Democrats are wandering in a political desert.
