Barack Obama returns in scold mode
Barack Obama the Scold returns
The Scold has returned. At a fundraiser in New Jersey last Friday night, President Obama reportedly said "I think it’s going to require a little bit less navel-gazing and a little less whining and being in fetal positions. And it’s going to require Democrats to just toughen up. You know, don’t tell me you’re a Democrat, but you’re kind of disappointed right now, so you’re not doing anything. No, now is exactly the time that you get in there and do something. Don’t say that you care deeply about free speech and then you’re quiet. No, you stand up for free speech when it’s hard. When somebody says something that you don’t like, but you still say, ‘You know what, that person has the right to speak.’ … What’s needed now is courage."
Actually, the Democrat Party needs a brain and a return to the center-left. Bill Clinton's Democrat Party was center-left. President Obama's Democrats were far-left. They're still moving farther left.
"Stop looking for the quick fix. Stop looking for the messiah. You have great candidates running races right now. Support those candidates," Obama said, calling out the New Jersey and Virginia elections, according to the excerpts of his remarks.People are rejecting the Democrat Party because they're no longer the Party of Solutions. The Democrat Party is now the Ideology Party. Today's Democrats are the anti-common sense party, the antisemitic party and the anti-ICE Party."Make sure that the DNC has what it needs to compete in what will be a more data-driven, more social media-driven cycle, which will cost some money and expertise and time," he continued.
With Zohran Mamdani as the highest-profile candidate anywhere in the nation, Democrats are in the midst of a civil war. They're demoralized, too.
During this panel discussion, Lulu Garcia-Navarro called President Obama "scoldy":
Further, she said that doesn't play well anymore and that "We saw that in the run-up to the election and he was telling black men that they needed to vote in solidarity for a black woman..." That's what he did. It didn't play with Pittsburgh voters, which is why Democrat turnout in Pennsylvania disappointed the DNC. The problem isn't that Democrats aren't supporting the leaders that they've got. It's that they've drifted too far left to attract leaders. This trend started with President Obama. He's the politician, along with Speaker Pelosi, who perfected the art of machine politics. So-called Democrat moderates vote the same way as Comrade Bernie or Sen. Warren.
It's time for Democrats to stop playing identity politics. It's time for Democrats to start thinking about what's best for their constituents instead of thinking what's best for the peoplle who fund their campaigns.
Finally, it's time for President Obama to stop his whining.
