The DFL hates the First Amendment, Part II

Now that we've established that the DFL hates the First Amendment Curran supported legislation to ban the use of conversion therapy for minors and vulnerable adults in Minnesota, which passed the House in 2023. They have called the practice "abusive brainwashing", and spoke on the House floor about their experience with it, arguing that it does more harm than goodand we've provided you with lots of video proof (Thanks to Shot In The Dark and Rep. Walter Hudson) of the DFL's animosity towards the Constitution and Bill of Rights, it's time to explain why the DFL hates the Constitution.

The Constitution is designed to limit the scope of government. In President Reagan's farewell address from the Oval Office on Jan. 11, 1989, he said "Ours was the first revolution in the history of mankind that truly reversed the course of government, and with three little words: 'We the People' 'We the People' tell the government what to do; it doesn't tell us. 'We the People' are the driver; the government is the car. And we decide where it should go, and by what route, and how fast. Almost all the world's constitutions are documents in which governments tell the people what their privileges are. Our Constitution is a document in which 'We the People' tell the government what it is allowed to do. 'We the People' are free. This belief has been the underlying basis for everything I've tried to do these past 8 years."

Imagine telling that to a spendaholic DFL legislator. That's like running fingernails across a chalkboard. If you say that, it's possible you'll trigger a nervous breakdown.

Defining deviancy down

There was a time when deviant behavior wasn't tolerated. Today's DFL frolics in deviant behavior. Daniel Patrick Moynihan first coined the phrase Defining Deviancy Down. At the time, this was published:

Moynihan understood well the social problems he was analyzing, but he underestimated how far and wide the redefinition of deviancy would spread. When his essay was published in 1993, New York City and much of the country were reeling from the drug crisis, and anti-drug laws received broad public support.
Years later, this was acceptable:
Today, politicians in the city and elsewhere have either legally or effectively decriminalized drugs, cannabis stores seemingly are on every block, and opioids are widely available, prompting the city council to mandate that public schools must stock Narcan to prevent drug overdoses.
The atmosphere of permissiveness is pervasive. The transgender movement wouldn't have been permitted in Sen. Moynihan's time. Back then, Democrats would've called it out for what it is -- utterly deviant behavior that's hurtful to society. With today's anything goes attitude, deviant behavior is widely accepted behavior. Politicians like Harry Niska, Peggy Scott and Walter Hudson are criticized for believing things that were widely accepted a generation ago.

A few years ago, then-U.S. Sen. Ben Sasse, (R-NE), took to the Senate floor to deliver a speech about Sen. Moynihan and famed Christian theologian C.S. Lewis:

Social media popularity has replaced constructive, edifying conversation. Parents have stopped parenting. Kids grow up too fast. Organizations like Antifa and BLM have replaced the stabilizing institutions of churches, well-run schools and families.

It's time for parents to start parenting and leading again. Further, it's time for parents to start setting good Biblical examples while showing their families something that hasn't been consistently been seen in decades: strong, moral behavior.

Finally, it's time to tell DFL politicians like Leigh Finke and Brion Curran. According to his Wikipedia page, "Curran supported legislation to ban the use of conversion therapy for minors and vulnerable adults in Minnesota, which passed the House in 2023. They have called the practice 'abusive brainwashing', and spoke on the House floor about their experience with it, arguing that it does more harm than good."

These Democrats are extremists and then some. These Democrats are frightening.

  1. I think “hate the First Amendment” is a bit strong. It’s just that their hard leftist religion trumps ours, that the Bill of Rights is “Void where prohibited by law” like everything else in Minnesota.

    1. I think the DFL hates anything that doesn't let them run roughshod on people. They want to totally dominate people and get their way 100% of the time. The Constitution & the Bill of Rights frequently get in their way.
