Beating a dead horse, aka Joe Biden

Joe Biden is away from the White House this week despite the urgent COVID matters that need his attention. The thing that's missing from this administration on COVID, apart from a coherent plan, is a sense of urgency in addressing the problems new variants have presented.

In this post, I wrote about the Strategic National Stockpile. The SNS is part of the Department of Health and Human Services, aka HHS. People are just noticing that Xavier Becerra, the HHS Secretary, has been MIA since his confirmation hearings. That's understandable since he was the California Attorney General after being a bomb-throwing back-bench congressman in DC. But I digress.

Joe Biden got into office by promising to "shut down the virus" instead of shutting down the country. In the end, though, Mr. Biden wasn't even able to get enough COVID tests ordered. Last week, Joe Biden attempted to shift the problem away from his administration and onto the governors when he said that there isn't federal solution to COVID.

That blame-shifting doesn't work. Biden's administration has the responsibility of keeping the Strategic National Stockpile, aka SNS, stocked. He's failed at that:

The Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) is part of the federal medical response infrastructure and can supplement medical countermeasures needed by states, tribal nations, territories and the largest metropolitan areas during public health emergencies. The supplies, medicines, and devices for lifesaving care contained in the stockpile can be used as a short-term, stopgap buffer when the immediate supply of these materials may not be available or sufficient. The SNS team works every day to prepare and respond to emergencies, support state and local preparedness activities, and ensure availability of critical medical assets to protect the health of Americans.
We've got a nationwide shortage of COVID tests. The COVID Relief Bill contained $48,000,000,000 (That's 48 billion dollars to those in Rio Linda) for testing supplies. That was passed in March, 2021. That's more than enough time to stockpile billions of tests. That's more than enough time to formulate a testing policy for who qualifies for SNS supplies.

Joe Biden has failed the American people on COVID. This is a good, sober assessment of the SNS:

It's time to take health infrastructure seriously.

Proof that Tim Walz doesn't care about fraud or other crime

Anyone that thinks that Tim Walz, Minnesota's DFL governor, doesn't care about preventing crime or fraud hasn't read this article . Alpha News is reporting that "The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) has confirmed that Dylan Adams, the fiscal policy analyst caught on video vandalizing Teslas in Minneapolis, is still employed by the state — meaning Minnesota taxpayers are footing the bill for his salary. In response to Alpha News inquiries, a DHS spokesperson said: "Dylan Adams is a current employee." Apparently, the Walz administration doesn't care that it's employing a vandal in its Department of Human Services. As for whether Adams "has faced consequences for racking up more than $21,000 in damage during work hours , the agency offered little transparency.
