The DFL's unseriousness crisis
Rep. Hudson is one of the brightest legislators in Minnesota. He figures things out quickly. For instance, he wrote "In many cases, what the Democrats propose is outright unconstitutional. Whether it’s a plot to force the feds to do something which we, as a state, literally can’t do, or pushing to take all your guns away and turn your father, your grandpa and your uncle into felons for owning what they’ve owned for 20 years."
This year, the DFL's agenda is performative. It isn't substantive. For instance, on Friday night's Almanac Roundtable, former State Sen. Ember Reichgott-Junge said that behind-the-scenes discussions were underway to pave the way for Minneapolis to get paid for the money businesses lost during Operation Metro Surge:
Minneapolisbbroke federal immigration law, ICE starts enforcing those laws and Minneapolis wants reparations? That's chutzpah, people. To my GOP friends in the Minnesota House: NOT A PENNY TO THOSE CROOKS! They hire illegal aliensas cheap labor, then, when the laws are enforced, they want to be reimbursed for breaking the law? Now that's rich. They can kiss my arse.Honor, the personal sense of pride and responsibility, and the fact that I was hired by my constituents to do a job keeps me going. That’s apparently not a conviction that’s shared by the other side because the Democrats have us on course for a session where we accomplish nothing.Today's DFL isn't in it to make Minnesota great. They're in it for the ideological checklist.I’m sure there are some conservative voices that might say, “Well, government not doing anything sounds like a good thing!” OK, that makes good rhetoric, but there are actual problems that need to be solved. Like the fraud that’s overtaken our state and is crushing taxpayers.
