Tim Walz's systemic fraud failure fiasco

Tim Walz keeps sinking deeper into difficulty over the Medicaid fraud fiasco. Each time Gov. Walz tries to extricate himself from this fraud fiasco, the deeper he sinks into the mess. How unsurprising. This time, though, the unfriendly fire isn't coming from outside Gov. Walz's administration. This time, it's coming from within Gov. Walz's administration. In a lengthy tweet, Minnesota Department of Human Service Employees wrote "Tim Walz is 100% responsible for massive fraud in Minnesota. We let Tim Walz know of fraud early on, hoping for a partnership in stopping fraud but no, we got the opposite response. Tim Walz systematically retaliated against whistleblowers using monitoring, threats, repression, and did his best to discredit fraud reports. Instead of partnership, we got the full weight of retaliation by Tim Walz, certain DFL members and an indifferent mainstream media. It’s scary, isolating and left us wondering who we can turn to."

The first question I've got is why the entire DFL didn't abandon Gov. Walz. That would've proven that the DFL was putting Minnesota ahead of the DFL. At minimum, large parts of the DFL should've abandoned Gov. Walz. Instead, the DFL, as a party, showed what and who they stood for. I wish I could say that I'm surprised but I'm not. This isn't surprising.

Next, these DHS employees wrote this:

This is a cascade of systemic failures leading up to Tim Walz. Agency leaders appointed by Tim Walz willfully disregarded rules and laws to keep fraud reports quiet - even to the extent of threatening families of whistleblowers. These same leaders are not qualified for their jobs, instead getting leadership jobs via Tim Walz’s friendship so state government were left floundering. DFL lawmakers refused to acknowledge fraud and deflected any serious conversation to stop fraud. Biased mainstream media such as WCCO and MPR showed absolutely no interest in covering fraud happening in our own state. Programs, especially in behavioral health and disability services were built without any guardrails against fraud, all in an attempt to extract more funding from legislature and the federal government.
This is totally believable, especially after Gov. Walz'a appearance on Meet the Press. Kristen Welker asked Walz about Somalis. About 3 minutes into the interview, Walz said that Somalis brought the energy to Minnesota:

I've said before that it's like Walz is allergic to the truth. During the interview, Walz was asked if he took responsibility for Minnesota's fraud. He replied that he'd take responsibility for putting criminals in jail. The detail he intentionally overlooked is the fact that it was federal prosecutors who put the criminals in jail, not Keith Ellison, Minnesota's DFL AG. In other words, Walz was taking credit for other people's work. How typical. Each paragraph reads like a new coount in the indictment. Check this out:
As staff, we firsthand witnessed and observed fraud happening yet we were shut down, reassigned and told to keep quiet. Sometimes more. Leadership did not want to appear to discriminate against certain communities and were unwilling to take action, such as stopping fraud, that would have an adverse impact on their image. To date, no single agency leader has been held responsible for their role in fraud whether it’s Shireen Gandhi, Jess Geil, Jodi Harpstead, Natasha Merz, Eric Grumdahl or others.
Just 2 weeks ago, Gov. Walz shut down 14 state agencies in his attempt to appear like he's tough on fraud. This lengthy tweet provides proof that he loves appearing tough on fraud without being tough on fraud.

It's time for a change. I'm shamelessly plugging the candidate I manage, Jeff Johnson. Click here to learn more about Councilman Jeff. If you like what you see, click here to contribute to Jeff's solutions-oriented movement. After all, Tim Walz isn't worthy of our support.
