Tim Walz's deficit, surplus
Spoken like a true socialist. First, President Trump didn't cause the destabilization of health care costs. They've been destabilized since President Obama signed the UNaffordable Care Act into law. Next, tariffs didn't destabilize the economy. The DFL's socialist econoomic policies destabilized the economy. Third, a growing economy isn't slowed that much by things like tariffs. Tariffs might have some effect but it isn't that much. If you've got solid policies in place, consumer confidence will absorb most of what the tariffs take away.
The problem with the DFL's economy is the DFL's overspending habits and the DFL's socialist policies. An economy that's anchored by low taxes, limited government and that doesn't let billions of dollars walk out the door through fraud isn't that bothered by cycles.
When the right policies are intact, people have confidence, inflation is stable and the economy grows. Minnesota's budget forecast still is suffering from the DFL Trifecta's spending orgy in 2023. We'll still suffer from the DFL's fiscal irresponsibility in 2023 for a few more years. Apparently, Gov. Walz thinks that there isn't anything that another tax-and-spend orgy won't fix. That's exactly the wrong prescription.
Notice in this video how the DFL insists that they're giving Minnesotans a tax break if you jump through the right hoops. Then the GOP corrects the record with the full picture:
Minnesota's budgetary volatility isn't new. This time, though, it's different. This time, the surplus wasn't created by economic activity. This time, the surplus was created by federal spending largesse. This time, the deficit was created by Tim Walz's and the DFL's irresponsible spending. Period. That debate is over. The DFL Trifecta government in 2023 spent a ron of one-time COVID money that came mostly from the $1,900,000,000,000 from the American Rescue Plan (aka one-time money, aka it won't be around the next budget cycle) on programs that are in each budget cycle, year-after-year. It doesn't require Einstein to figure out that this one-time money shouldn't be used to create new programs. Then again, nobody's accused Tim Walz of being that bright.Minnesota needs a new government, one that doesn't overspend, one that prevents fraud, not catches fraud. We need someone who will bring test scores for students up. Most importantly, we need someone with intelligence and integrity, a pair of things that are currently missing in the Walz administration.
