Texas Democrats copy Minnesota House Democrats
Apparently, Texas Democrats think that copying Minnesota's DFL legislators is a wise thing to do. HINT: It's a foolish stunt. In the not-that-distant future, Texas Republicans will get their way. Texas Democrats will have to pay massive fines in addition to returning and restoring a legislative quorum. (Sorry, Beto, but you can't use your Powered By People money to pay these fleebagging Democrats' hotel and lodging bills. It's illegal.)
Of course, a circus isn't a circus without a clown. Thanks to Ken Martin's presence, that clown just arrived. Of course, Texas Democrats' argument is that they're saving democracy. That's a pile of BS. Texas Republicans are just fighting back against California Democrats, Illinois Democrats and New York Democrats. In fact, what Republicans are doing in Texas isn’t gerrymandering. Thia is Illinois:
Now that's gerrymandering.Ken, what word would you use to describe what Democrats did to the most recent redistricting map? Were Illinois Democrats attempting to draw a competitive redistricting map that'sa fair to Republicans and Democrats? Or were you trying to use redistricting to win back a majority in the U.S. House? You don't have to answer. That was a rhetorical question.Texas democrats take a page out of the DFL playbook. If you don’t have the votes, run and hide to shut down government. https://t.co/tT5PBcjtCI

Finally, it;s rich that Chairman Martin said that Texas Republicans were trying to prevent the Texas legislature from funding the families who went through the Independence Day flood earlier this summer. Passing emergency support for flkood victims is part of this special session's agenda. It's Martin's Democrats that are acting like heartless bastards. It's Democrats that are the ones who left Texas before passing flood relief.
It's just a matter of time before Democratas return to Texas from California, Illinois and NY State. When that happens, the flood relief package will get passed and the redistricting map qwill pass, too. It's that simple.
There's a famous saying about Texas: "Don't mess with Texas". Texas legislature only meets regularly every odd year. Texas is red by 8-15 points. I expect Greg Abbot to win by 13-15 points next year. Texas legislature, specifically the Texas House is filled GOP swamp rats, who did a witch hunt on Ken Paxton the last couple of years. I predict Ken Paxton beats John Cornyn in the GOP primary for the US Senate next year and thus becomes the next US Senator for Texas.
