Democrats insist that Washington, DC is safe

When Anand Giridharadas said that he was "afraid that my children’s freedom to breathe will be stolen in a world where climate change policy is nonexistent," he identified himself as part of the not-too-bright left. Giridharadas then said "Crime is real. It is blown out of proportion. People are feeling much more unsafe than they statistically are—but the feeling matters. People deserve to be safe, but they also deserve to feel safe."

Actually, they're less safe than they feel, at least in Washington, DC. Apparently, people are cooking the books in DC. People are saying that MPD upper management is turning felonies into misdemeanors, undercounting violent crime. If that's true, people are less safe than they feel. That's terrible news because they already feel unsafe.

Elsewhere, Melissa Gira Grant wrote "As has become routine, Trump attempted to give legitimacy to his entirely gratuitous actions with executive orders, one declaring a nonexistent 'crime emergency' in Washington, the other 'restoring law and order' by directing Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to activate the D.C. National Guard." Again, it's worth noting that accusations are flying that the DC MPD is tampering with the criminal activity database, turning felonies into misdemeanors.

Democrats insist that Washington, DC is safer than it sounds. That's imaginative. Let's remember that this is coming from the people that told us that inflation was "transitory", that the border was secure and that the economy was the best in the world.

Watching Janet Yellen and Jasy Powell talk about inflation being "transitory" is painful/ But I digress. It's almost as bad as listening to Demorats insist that Washington, DC is safe. Watching this was painful:

Reading Democrats insist that DC is as safe as it's ever been is painful, too.
