Joe Biden's Catch & Release program vs. Donald Trump's Catch & Detain program

For once, I agree with the Washington Post. a href="https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/ice-declares-millions-of-undocumented-immigrants-ineligible-for-bond-hearings/ar-AA1IBhQv" target="_blank">This Washington Post article states "In the past, immigrants residing in the U.S. interior generally have been allowed to request a bond hearing before an immigration judge. But Lyons wrote that the Trump administration’s departments of Homeland Security and Justice had 'revisited its legal position on detention and release authorities' and determined that such immigrants 'may not be released from ICE custody.' In rare exceptions immigrants may be released on parole, but that decision will be up to an immigration officer, not a judge, he wrote."

Why would ICE release illegal aliens after catching them? The honor system didn't work during Biden's time in office. Then again, Biden didn't want them back in custody. Why wouldn't ICE agents expect those illegal aliens to not show up for their hearings?

The article continues, saying "The provision is based on a section of immigration law that says unauthorized immigrants 'shall be detained' after their arrest, but that has historically applied to those who recently crossed the border and not longtime residents." Again, the law's language is straightforward. Clear language vs. tradition doesn't always mean victory with SCOTUS.

Lyons, who oversees the nation’s 200 immigration detention facilities, wrote that the policy is expected to face legal challenges.

ICE did not respond to requests for comment. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott issued similar guidance last week; that agency also did not respond to questions.

The message from the Trump administration couldn't be clearer. There's finally a sheriff in town and he means business. The Biden era is over. The era off free plane flights is over -- except if it's a deportation flight. This video segment highlights what's really happening:

This ICE raid was met with fierce resistance. Further, ICE found 14 unaccompanied minors at the cannabis farm, far from the dishonest description Gov. Gavin Newsom posated on X: Gavin Newsom is a political chameleon. His message changes depending on who he's talking at. How do yopu give a chameleon a nervous breakdown? Put it against a plaid or paisley background.
