Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph Thompson: "this state needs to confront the scale of its fraud problem."
State Sen. Michael Kreun, R-Blaine, is quoted as saying "Accountability starts at the top and these headlines will keep coming until Governor Walz ends his opposition to the bipartisan proposal for an independent Office of Inspector General."
This is getting frustrating. Any of these Twin Cities TV stations could start a weekly Sunday show with the title of 'This Week in Minnesota Fraud." That's how frequent these headlines seem to appear. At this point, we have the right to know whether Gov. Walz's opposition to Sen. Kreun's bipartisan bill is because he's corrupt or if he's just disinterested in doing his job. This report is damning against Gov. Walz and the DFL:
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me dozens of times, shame on Tim Walz, Keith Ellison and the DFL legislatora that filibustered the bill into submission this year:Kreun is a co-author of a bipartisan bill to create an independent Office of Inspector General tasked with identifying and preventing fraud, waste, and abuse in state programs. The bill passed the Senate last session with strong bipartisan support, 60-7, but stalled in the Minnesota House. It's time for the DFL to admit that they aren't interested in helping the needy or doing the work of enforcing the laws of Minnesota or the U.S. The DFL has quickly built the reputation of not paying attention to Medicaid fraud. If the DFL won't pay attention to this system of organized fraud, then it's time to throw the entire bunch out immediately. That's the taxpayers' money, not the politicians' or the fraudsters' money.
The Center for the American Experiment is highlighting the need for program like DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) here at the state level. This system of fraud truly is systemic. I hope the Acting Attorney (Joseph Thompson) investigates whether there's any RICO activity, too. Finally, I hope the perpetrators get the maximum penalty and make restitution for every penny the DFL defrauded Minnesotans out of.
