Ken Martin, incoming DNC Chair edition
"Martin secured 246.5 votes of the total 428 members who voted in person and by proxy. Runner-up Ben Wikler, chairman of the Wisconsin Democratic Party, received 134.5 votes, former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley received 44 votes and four people abstained. Faiz Shakir received two votes, Jason Paul received one vote and there were no votes for Nate Snyder, Quintessa Hathaway or Marianne Williamson."
As a Minnesotan, it was easy to spot the DFL flavor to the Martin campaign. Standing behind Martin were Minnesota AG Keith Ellison, Minnesota Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan and Congresswoman Ilhan Omar. In short, the Martin 'Campaign' is filled with far-left lunatics. They've done well in urban areas but they haven't done well beyond the outer ring suburbs. Check out Martin's victory speech:
After Martin's victory speech, the DNC issued this statement. In the statement, Martin is quoted as saying:The Democratic Party is the party of working people, and it’s time to roll up our sleeves and outcompete everywhere, in every election, and at every level of government — and I look forward to working with this next generation of leadership to build a Party to unite America. Today’s elections mark a new chapter in DNC leadership, and Donald Trump and his billionaire allies are put on notice: we will hold them accountable for ripping off working families, and we will beat them at the ballot box. This should be fun. This year's Trump "billionnaire allies" were Joe Biden's billionnaire allies in 2020. I didn't hear Martin complaining about those billionnaires then.
Martin knows how to run a machine. That's what he did in Minnesota. I don't think that translates into winning swing districts or battleground states. It's difficult, for instance, to picture Pothole Pete Buttigieg appealing to voters in Michigan. He's an EV guy, not an internal combustion engine guy. Further, he's as phopny as a $3 bill.
Background on DNC Chair Ken Martin
Ken Martin has served as the Chairman of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) Party since 2011 — making him the longest serving Chair in the 75-year history of the DFL. Ken made the DFL what it is today — an all-day, year-round party dedicated to organizing communities, empowering the grassroots, electing progressive candidates, and improving the lives of Minnesotans.Electing blue dog Democrats isn't Martin's strength. During Martin's time as DFL Chair, Martin lost rural Minnesota, exurban Minnesota and the Iron Range. That's how you stay in the wilderness nationally.
