Exposing the Trump administration's Ukraine spin

The Kool-Aid must be flowing freely in the White House. First, President Trump insisted that President Zelenskyy had started the war with Russia and that it wasn't a winnable war. After that, National Security Adviser Michael Waltz jumped to Trump's defense, insisting that there's lots of ingratitude coming from President Zelenskyy.

This time, VP JD Vance is peddling the administration storyline that "neither Europe, nor the Biden administration, nor the Ukrainians had any pathway to victory. This was true three years ago, it was true two years ago, it was true last year, and it is true today." This is a steaming pile of BS. Gen. Jack Keane disagrees with Vance, saying "Speaking on John Catsimatidis’ WABC morning programme on Sunday, Mr Keane said that 'there really is an opportunity here that none of us could’ve imagined for the Ukrainians actually to win' the war against Moscow, before quickly pivoting to an admonishment of the Biden administration and Nato for wanting to move along a peace deal between the two nations."

If I'm forced to pick between Michael Waltz and Gen. Jack Keane on who to trust on Ukraine, I'll pick Gen. Keane each time. That isn't a difficult choice. While I agree with most of VP Vance's points, I certainly don't agree with him about the past potential for winning:

I think it's likely that VP Vance will step back into Trump's shadow now that his hatchetman role is finished. Here's Trump's other hatchetman:

At this point, the best that can be hoped for (thanks to Biden's and Europe's mishandling of events) is a semi-uneven draw. It's time to move on.
