Proof that Democrats don't care about national security
Needless to say, that fact has Senate Majority Leader Thune irate. In one of his first speeches as the new leader, Thune said "In a joint statement with Chairman Cotton, the Democrat vice chair of the Intelligence Committee said this, and I quote, ‘Our world is far too dangerous for any delay in having a Senate-confirmed leader in charge of the CIA. We urge expeditious consideration of this important nomination. Now, Mr. President, that, again, is from the Democrat vice chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, urging, and I quote again, ‘expeditious consideration of this important nomination. Now, Mr. President, this is the director of the CIA – the Central Intelligence Agency – a key national security position." Sen. Thune continued:
Mr. Ratcliffe is a qualified nominee. He was director of national intelligence in the first Trump administration – the quarterback for all 18 elements of the intelligence community. In the House, in the House of Representatives, he served on the Intelligence Committee, and he was chairman of the Cybersecurity Subcommittee on the Homeland Security Committee. He’s been vetted by the Intelligence Committee. And he’ll likely receive bipartisan support on the floor as he did in the committee.Shame on Sen. Murphy and Sen. Schumer for playing these games with this nation's national security hanging in the balance. This isn't a game. National security isn't a game. It's to be taken seriously. Sen. Murphy isn't taking it seriously. Sen. Thune's speech: Sen. Cotton, the chirman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, was upset with Sen. Murphy, too: During Sen. Murphy's debate with Sen. Cotton, Sen. Murphy accused Dir. Ratcliffe of politicizing the intelligence collected by the ODNI, aka the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. That's thoroughly insulting. When the Biden campaign had the 51 "Spies who lied" publish a letter that said Miranda Devine's article was a Russian disinformation operation, Dir. Ratcliffe spoke out about that incident. While being cross-examined by Senate Intelligence Committee Vice-Chair Warner,Dir. Ratcliffe had this to say: Sen. Murphy is using the same line as Sen. Warner used against Dir. Ratcliffe. They're both accusing Dir. Ratcliffe of "politicizing" the intelligence despite the absence of any proof of politicizing intelligence. Dir. Ratcliffe just cited 3 incidents where Dir. Ratcliffe spoke truth to power.Mr. President, the senator from Connecticut wants to unnecessarily delay this vote. He says senators need time for a ‘full, real debate.’ Well, where are they? Why are we not debating?
Here's hoping that Senate Majority Leader Thune makes Democrats' lives miserable this entire year. They've earned it with their gamesmanship. We don't need any gamesmanship. We need statesmanship. Thus far, Democrats apparently aren't interested in statesmanship. What a pathetic bunch of losers these Democrats are.
