Tim Walz was surprised he, Kamala Harris lost? Seriously?
That's a little difficult to believe, especially since a) Trump won all 7 battleground states, b) each of the fifty states moved right compared to 4 years prior and c) Trump gained ground with each of the minority groups. Other than that, there was a 12,000,000-vote swing in the popular vote. Other than that, the Harris-Walz ticket was exceptionally competitive.
Andy Brehm nailed it with this tweet:
This is part of Hauser's interview with Walz: It wasn't an exclusive: CBS got the longest interview: WCCO's interview was more than 17 minutes long. Andy is better attuned to Twin Cities politics than I am but I wouldn't be surprised if Gov. Walz ran for another term.Wonder why the Harris-Walz ticket lost? Listen to this clip. According to @Tim_Walz, the American people are the problem. I suspect Mr. Walz’s political career is nearing its end, and it’s no wonder why. MN is a mess under his watch. https://t.co/cpv1B2PEjk

He discussed his nerves and excitement during his first public event with the vice president at a campaign rally in August at Temple University in Philadelphia, shortly after being selected as Harris’s running mate.Trump usually played to much bigger crowd and more people in the overflow area than Harris-Walz had at their Philadelphia rally. FYI- It's standard that a Jumbotron is installed so that the overflow crowd can listen."I’m standing at the curtain with the vice president of the United States with 15 to 20 thousand people and the national press out there, and she turns to me and says, ‘Well, let’s not screw this up.’ And we went out there," Walz recalled.
It didn't take long for Tim Walz to become a national laughingstock. That said, the things Gov. Walz mentioned in his WCCO interview would've helped a handful of people without helping the economy. The Harris-Walz economic plan pitted one group against another. It's typical DFL strategy of picking winners and losers.
Trump's plan pre-COVID helped everyone. The working and middle class gained the most; the rich got the least. More people got pulled out of poverty than during any period in history. People noticed that the Harris-Walz ticket wasn't offering anything different from the Biden ticket.
Finally, Gov. Walz can't be too bright if he didn't notice that this was a change election. It couldn't have been more obvious.
