Jamie Raskin and the theory of Democrats' independent DOJ

There's a theory making its rounds in DC that Democrats are all about protecting an independent Justice Department. If people thought that Democrats were honest, one might think that this article was a serious article. Unfortunately for readers, it's a transcript of Jamie Raskin's interview. That makes it as trustworthy as Joe Biden saying he'd never talked with Hunter about Burisma. But I digress. Let's see what Rep. Raskin had to say.

Hugo Lowell asked Rep. Raskin "Let me change gears, then, and go to the Judiciary Committee. What are the oversight tools that House Democrats on the Judiciary Committee have going into this next Congress as they conduct oversight over the Trump DOJ? What are the biggest concerns you have when it comes to how Trump might use the DOJ for his personal ends?"

Without skipping a beat, Raskin replied "Well, the Department of Justice traditionally has enjoyed institutional independence from the office of the president. The president has not ordered investigations into specific individuals or terminated investigations into others. That principle was, of course, tested during Donald Trump’s first presidential administration. He seemed to want to treat the Department of Justice as a mere adjunct of his own presidency, under the unitary executive theory."

Check this out:

Notice Biden's slip-up? Biden said they never spoke, "even when my son was the Attorney General of the State of Delaware." I know that Biden's son Beau was Delaware's attorney general but I'm unaware that Hunter was Delaware's AG.
RASKIN: We are going to try to defend the principle of the independent integrity of the law enforcement function under the Department of Justice. We will resist and oppose any efforts to politicize the department so that it goes after the president’s enemies, in the current parlance, or goes easy on his friends. That is simply not how the rule of law works, and it directly undercuts more than two centuries of understanding about how the United States government operates.
Rep. Raskin, please name a single Trump ally that the DOJ took it easy on. Please name a single political enemy that Trump went after with lawfare. I can cite at least 4 times that the Biden-Garland DOJ used lawfare to attack Trump. Think Bragg, J6, Mar-a-Lago and Atlanta.
We are going to stand very strong for the idea that the rule of law is not subordinate to partisanship. The president of the United States, under Article II of the Constitution, has the job to take care that the laws are faithfully executed. That is the opposite of the president choosing winners and losers in the justice process. The president’s job is to ensure the laws are faithfully executed. That, of course, is the defining mission of the Department of Justice.
Rep. Raskin, did Joe Biden and Alejandro Mayorkas faithfully execute this nation's immigration laws? If they did, how did 15,000,000 peopple from around the world illegally enter the U.S.? Biden and Mayorkas selectively enjorced this nation's laws. That's why the American people threw Biden and Harris out of office. GOOD RIDDANCE!!!!
