Julian Epstein: Democrats refuse to adjust

During the Clinton administration, Julian Epstein fiercely defended President Clinton's policies. These days, he's spending his time criticizing activist Democrats. It's been a dramatic turnaround. In his latest op-ed, Epstein wrote "Joe Scarborough is on bended knee, licking the boots of an incoming president he has likened to Hitler. Nancy Pelosi, who first defended Biden’s mental capacity before coldly whacking him, is now blaming him for Kamala Harris’s loss. Activist 'journalists' claim that Harris ran a 'perfect' campaign and blame voters 'who gave up on democracy.'"

History repeating itself

History is repeating itself. In the late 1970s, the late Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan was disappointed that, in his mind, the Democrats weren't the party of ideas anymore. That thought made Sen. Moynihan sad. He loved jousting with his Republican counterparts. Sen. Moynihan especially enjoyed debating Sen. Phil Gramm, (R-TX), about tax cuts.

During that time, Julian Epstein went on lots of political shows to debate Republican often. Those days are behind Epstein now. Now he's writing op-eds decrying how Democrats won't adjust:

Self-preening typifies much of what’s wrong with the contemporary American left. It’s a culture driven by its own self-exaltation and social credit scores rather than self-examination. Moral condescension and virtue signaling are its chief currency.

Meanwhile, the migrant waves over-saturate labor markets, stealing working-class jobs and lower pay scales. For working Americans, this wealth transfer is yet another assault by the same liberal elites who drove the neoliberal consensus on free trade that enriched themselves — all while hollowing out working-class communities and transferring jobs abroad through unfair trade laws.

Doesn't Mr. Epstein sound like an America First MAGA nut? If that didn't make you think that Mr. Epstein had undergone a transformation, you need to sit down and rethink things.
Most workers lost real wages under the Biden administration.

The de rigueur of the left is to cry bigotry when the working class and others object to this self-dealing. The college educates get fat while expressing moral condescension towards anyone who questions their "multiculturalism over nation" pathos or their victimhood obsessions. Pretty clever gig if you can get it.

Watch this interview:

Mr. Epstein hasn't changed. Democrats charged far to their left. It's the old Reagan line that he didn't leave the Demoocrat Party. It left him. These days, the Democrats are closer to the populist GOP than they are to today's Democrat Party.

PREDICTION:

If Democrats don't make a significant adjustment, they stand a good chance of getting thumped in the Midterm elections.
