BREAKING NEWS: counterfeit ballot alert in Minnesota

Securing an official ballot for your ward and precinct normally requires registration to vote and either showing up at a polling place or securing an absentee ballot. Ballot security is a cornerstone of an election free of fraud. When the tailgate of a vehicle was left open and unattended revealing a large stack of blank ballots, Minnesotans were appalled.
Imagine how you would feel when you learn that all it takes to get a reproducible ballot for your ward and precinct is to download a file from a government website. In Stearns and several other Minnesota counties, imagination is not needed. Right now, all you have to do is go to Minnesota’s Secretary of State’s website and download a file. Go to this website and select “Get a sample ballot”. Then enter your zip code and address and your ballot appears. Now you are able to download the ballot as a PDF file. Once you have the PDF file you can print as many copies as you want on to readily available paper identical to the paper used for official ballots.
Yes you read the previous paragraph correctly. All it takes to produce fake ballots is a printer, the right paper and some rudimentary computer skills and you could make as many ballots as you desire. If someone wanted to stuff the ballot box after they have marked all the counterfeit ballots they produce, all they need to do is get the counterfeits into the pile waiting to be scanned by a tabulator.
A complaint form is being filed. That is the first step in prompting an investigation of potential fraud. Since its clear that the “Sample Ballot” submitted by Stearns County and posted by the Secretary of State violate State Statute and Rules, the need to correct this unlawful practice should be a priority. Notice what's missing:
The offending parties violated the following:Minn. Stat. §204B.43 which makes it unlawful for an election official to knowingly give, or permit a ballot to be printed, in a form other than that prescribed by law, Minn. R. 8250.1810, Subp. 18, which mandates the format for Example Ballots the election official is required to follow for the 2024 general election.
The format of the 2024 General Election Example Ballot can be found here.
Now that the violation of statute and rule have been called to the attention of the County and State, the window to potential fraud must be closed.
