Brian Melendez' inartful spin on Donald Trump, Tim Walz
Melendez Whopper #1
The first of Melendez's whoppers happened when Hauser asked him "Why are the Democrats trying to protect him (Gov. Walz) and Kamala Harris from press conferences and interviews?" Melendez replied "I don't know that they're protecting them from interviews and news conferences but I think they decided to get their message out through retail politics so that they don't seem like they're Donald Trump and he doesn't need a filled ampitheater filled with cheering Romans in order to validate himself. Walz and Harris aren't that insecure." Hauser replied that the American people would like to hear from Harris and Walz without all the choreographyy (paraphrased).
Melendez Whopper #2
Melendez's other whopper came when he said "Well, that argumment overlooks -- it's a valid argument that overlooks an even more relevant point, which is that Donald Trump was president for 4 years and he didn't fix a single thing he promised to fix."
That's the biggest pile of BS I've ever hears from a career politician. Then again, considering the DFL's excesswive spending habits and the DFL's inattentiveness to public safety, it's easy to see why Melendez wouldn't notice the biggest tax cuts in history, tax cuts that, BTW, lifted millions of people out of poverty, especially in communities of color. I'd consider that a promise kept that he promised to fix.
That's before talking about his promise kept to make the U.S. energy independent. That's how energy prices dropped through the floor and helped families with cheaper home-heating bills, cheaper groceries and lots of money left over at the end of each month. Does that mean that Mr. Melendez doesn't like cheap prices and money left over at the end of the month? If he doesn't like those things, then he's a jerk.
Finally, starting about 19:00 into this video, is where Mr. Melendez started putting his foot into his mouth:
