Sunday was Joe Biden vs. Donald Trump Day
In the opening paragraph of Ms. O'Malley's tweet, she wrote "It’s a familiar story: Following Thursday night’s debate, the beltway class is counting Joe Biden out. The data in the battleground states, though, tells a different story. On every metric that matters, data shows it did nothing to change the American people’s perception, our supporters are more fired up than ever, and Donald Trump only reminded voters of why they fired him four years ago and failed to expand his appeal beyond his MAGA base."
That's what I'd expect from Team Biden. First, people like David Axelrod, Van Jones and Circle-back Jen Psaki were in panic mode. I hope Ms. O'Malley won't gaslight people again. Mr. Axelrod knows a sinking ship when he sees one. Next, saying that "data shows it did nothing to change the American people’s perception" is pure fantasy. One focus group of 13 people recorded no people switching to Biden. How do you go zero-for-focus-group?
Next, let's look at Bill Ackman's tweet. Here's what Mr. Ackman wrote:
@realDonaldTrump is going to win in a landslide. The country should rally around Trump and help him succeed.Anyone that's paid attention to this election has seen Trump go through a maturation process. Biden tried baiting Trump multiple times into a bad-looking moment. That moment never happened. Biden was the one who had the viral moments. Biden looked frustrated, not Trump. This was, in my opinion, the best line of the night: What Biden said was total malarkey. He stumbled through the entire night. Meanwhile, Trump stuck to his game plan of highlighting what he's now named Biden Migrant Crime. Time and again, Trump highlighted that. People saying that Trump didn't say what he'd do in a second term are lying through their teeth! Trump also spoke defiantly about delivering on the biggest tax cut in history and the biggest regulations cut in history. While Trump didn't say anything about Drill, Baby, Drill, he mentioned returning to energy independence as a way to cut inflation and high prices.Trump didn’t expect to win the first time he was elected. As a result, he was totally unprepared. The lack of preparation, the Russia investigation and the ensuing chaos interfered with his ability to execute.
Now Trump knows he is going to win. So does everyone else. One of my biggest concerns was whether Trump could build a first class team. The good news is that very capable people that I know are excited to work in the new Trump administration. Trump will be able to start recruiting top talent immediately.
To Democrats
This race is over. You've been exposed as outright liars. You told us that 'Behind the scenes, Joe outworks all of us' or that 'Joe's sharp as a tack.' Thursday night, that spin came crashing down.
To Republicans
It's time to redouble our work hours. Yes, we're in a good position but that doesn't mean we're the prohibitive favorites. We still have to outwork our opponents.
