Donald Trump, Uniter-in-Chief?
Who knew that Donald Trump's true calling in life was to be our Uniter-in-Chief? As ridiculous as that sounds, that's the role he took after the assassination attempt on his life. A little after 6:00 pm ET, Thomas Matthew Crooks shot Trump just after he had started his rally. This morning, Trump took to Truth Social to send this message:
Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers yesterday, as it was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening. We will FEAR NOT, but instead remain resilient in our Faith and Defiant in the face of Wickedness. Our love goes out to the other victims and their families. We pray for the recovery of those who were wounded and hold in our hearts the memory of the citizen who was so horribly killed. In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand United, and show our True Character as Americans, remaining Strong and Determined, and not allowing Evil to Win. I truly love our Country, and love you all, and look forward to speaking to our Great Nation this week from Wisconsin. 🙏 DJTTruer words were never spoken. Had Trump not turned his head to look at the video screen, the entire side of his temple would've been exposed to Crooks's shot. Because of the motion of turning his head, the bullet just grazed his right ear: Trump's family responded to their dad's shooting: It's time for Democrats to lower the temperature on their rhetoric immedediately and permanently. Calling Trump 'Hitler' and insisting that Trump will destroy democracy is hyperbolle on steroids. This isn't a 'both sides are guilty' situation. This is a rare situation where the finger should be pointed only in one direction.
To be fair, though, President Biden made a nice statement last night. Let's hope that's the start of a less immoderate Joe. The Joe Biden we've seen the past 2+ years has been pretty intemperate.
It's already been announced that Trump will be in Milwaukee this Thursday night to deliver his acceptance speech. That's pretty amazing considering what happened to him yesterday afternoon. I'm predicting this will be the most-watched acceptance speech in history.
