Hunter Biden's guilty verdict cheered by Republicans

Pardon Republicans if they took extra delight when Judge Maryellen Noreikas told the world that the jury had returned 3 guilty verdicts against Hunter Biden Tuesday. Republicans realize that Democrats still are trigger happy in using the legal system against Republicans, especially those Republicans named Donald Trump. It isn't surprising that the 4 indictments against Trump are in New York, DC, Atlanta and Miami. Miami is the only city where Trump can get a fair trial.

Special Counsel David Weiss took the opportunity to gloat, saying in part "This case was about the illegal choices the defendant made while in the throes of addiction — his choice to lie on a government form when he bought a gun and the choice to then possess that gun. It was these choices and the combination of guns and drugs that made his conduct dangerous." It wasn’t lost on well-informed people that Weiss had initially tried giving Hunter a sweetheart deal last summer. That deal was scuttled by Judge Noreikas, followed by Team Hunter to say they should tear up that deal.

If there's anyone that deserve heaps of praise, it's Judge Noreikas and the actual prosecutors:

It's been suggested that Hunter will work out a plea deal on his tax charges. While that's definitely possible, I don't see that as a slam dunk. Why would Weiss offer a sweetheart deal? Republicans care far more about the tax charges because that's where Joe Biden is implicated. The last thing Democrats want is to have Joe Biden implicated in the influence-peddling operation. They've said for months that there's no evidence that Joe Biden was involved in this operation. That's been BS since the Democrats started spinning things that way. The evidence compiled by Jamie Comer's House Oversight Committee and Jason Smith's House Ways & Means Committee is both substantial and damning.

Throw in the fact that Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler, the IRS whistleblowers that blew this thing open, will be key witnesses in the tax trial and you've got a tough negotiation for Abbe Lowell. Shgapley and Ziegler were compelling witnesses in open testimony in Congress. There's no reason to think they wouldn't be compelling witnesses in court, too.

There's pressure building on Weiss. He tried giving away a sweetheart deal to Hunter in July, 2023. After that got ripped to shreds, he returned with a harder edge for this trial. That isn't the sign of a prosecutor who wants to take it easy now that the spotlight's shining bright.
