Donald Trump's triumphant Bronx return

If Donald Trump was hoping for a triumphant return to the Bronx, Trump should've set his expectations a little higher. Initially, it was expected that he'd draw 3,500 fans to Crotona Park in the Bronx. Fox News is reporting that the attendance for the event was more like 25,000. Politico is reporting that "Donald Trump made a direct appeal to Black and Hispanic voters in one of the bluest parts of the country on Thursday, boasting he could expand the electoral map into traditionally Democratic strongholds. Speaking to a raucous crowd in the South Bronx, the former president claimed he would win his home state of New York, a state that hasn’t gone for a Republican presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan 44 years ago."

Actually, Reagam won New York twice, the first time in 1980, the final time in 1984. Still, it's been too long since Republicans took New York's electoral votes. While it's still a longshot for Trump to win New York's electoral votes, this is the right thing for Trump to do. When Lee Zeldin lost to Gov. Kathy Hochul in 2022, Zeldin's competitive race helped pull 3-4 House candidates across the finish line. That race is often seen as the reason for Republicans holding the House majority. Lawrence Jones interviewed Trump after the rally:

I searched through a ton of videos to find a video that showed the size of the event. I couldn't find that video until I went to Twitter: CBS, CNN and ABC showed pictures that were taken before the event. RNC Research took pictures during the rally. Whether there were 25,000 people there, I'm not certain. I'm certain, though, that it was a huge crowd, much bigger than the 3,500 originally expected. Another thing that I'm certain of is that the majority of people attending the event were minorities with either positive attitudes towards Trump or, at minimum, open-minded to Trump. Kathy Hochul had her own Hillary moment yesterday:

She isn't too bright, is she? Calling a large group of people clowns is insulting. Then again, that's what Democrats do best.
