Donald Trump's most important task: picking a VP? Or building a governing team?

Watching this weekend's Big Weekend Show was painful. The show's opening segment was about the RNC spring meeting and who Trump should pick as his VP. Tammy Bruce suggested that Trump's pick should be a) a believer in Trump's America First agenda and b) able to win in 2028 and 2032. I agree with that. Then she ruined it by saying that one of the options that fit that description was Doug Burgum. Burgum should be part of the cabinet but not as VP. He's perfectly suited as Energy Secretary.

Building a governing team vs. picking a VP

This should be about building an America First governing team that's committed to Trump's American First agenda long-term. It's time for Trump to build his governing team. That means leaving Tim Scott in the Senate, where he can be Senate Majority Leader John Kennedy's majority whip or conference chair in charge of messaging.

National Security team

John Ratcliffe, DNI; Mike Pompeo, SecState; Mike Waltz or Tom Cotton, Defense Sec; Kat Cammack or Greg Abbott as DHS Sec; Ted Cruz, Chip Roy or Mike Lee as AG and Robert O'Brien or Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg as National Security Adviser.

VP

That leaves either Marco Rubio or Ron DeSantis as Trump's VP. Both are excellent on the stump. They're both appealing to important voting blocks. They're both overqualified to be president if, God forbid, something happened to Trump.

It's great to have a fighter in the Oval Office but it's important to have a team that'll implement that man's agenda. I don't have names for all of the cabinet positions but this is a good start. As for the economic team, I'd bring back most of the team from last time. Finally, I'd bring back Ben Carson at HUD and I'd install Elise Stefanik as Education Secretary. Check this out for a hero's welcome:
