UniteCloud is closing its doors

A loyal reader of this blog just sent me today's good news story of the day. My friend sent me this link. It couldn't be better news. Natalie Ringsmuth Copeland is moving on from her position "as Executive Director of Unite Cloud, a non-profit working to reduce racial, religious, and cultural tensions in Central MN." She's most 'famous' for her role in making St. Cloud a 'welcoming city.'

According to Ringsmuth (her name at the time), people that opposed the Refugee Resettlement program were racists and Islamophobes. Ringsmuth's chief target was then-City Councilman Jeff Johnson. I don't recall if Ringsmuth called him a racist or an Islamophobe. She might've let Jaylani Hussein, the Executive Director at CAIR-MN, do that. Hussein has been Executive Director at CAIR-MN since 2015.

Councilman Johnson's 'unforgivable sin' was that he wanted "a temporary moratorium on refugee resettlement in the city until Lutheran Social Service can demonstrate it's complying with federal law and coordinating resettlement efforts with the city." OMG. What a dastardly thing to do. A city councilman expects NGOs and NPOs to follow the law!

Johnson also wants an economic impact study of the costs to taxpayers of refugee resettlement. Lutheran Social Service expects to resettle about 225 refugees in St. Cloud in 2018.
By Ringsmuth's standards, Eric Adams is a xenophobe. He's highlighting the fact that the mini-flood of illegal aliens are costing NYC billions of dollars in money that was initially directed to NYC's impoverished. Ringsmuth was upset with Johnson for his wanting to know whether St. Cloud could afford to house, educate and provide health care to the Somali refugees. That's all Johnson wanted to know.

When the Stearns County commissioners hid the information from Councilman Johnson, he dug deeper. Then the commissioners prevented him from attending their quarterly meeting on refugee resettlement. That caused Councilman Johnson to wonder what they were hiding.

Jeff Goerger's Kumbaya Moment:

UniteCloud played a large role in misleading the public about Johnson's moratorium. UniteCloud and CAIR-MN characterized it as a ban, which it wasn't. Johnson called for a temporary moratorium.

UPDATE: I contacted Johnson to make sure I was being accurate in my characterizations. He sent me this picture that shows his xenophobia LOL:

That's quite the tag team

CAIR unites with UniteCloud:

"I think this is a defining moment for St. Cloud and really for Central Minnesota in general because there are people with power in this area that don't want anything to do with our refugee neighbors," Ringsmuth said Wednesday morning. "People are embarrassed by this. I'm personally embarrassed we have to be in the news again for this."

The Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations also launched a petition Tuesday urging the St. Cloud City Council to vote no on the moratorium, which the organization called a "despicable, racist, Islamophobic, and ill-informed motion targeting refugees."

Now that NYC Mayor Eric Adams is essentially making the same arguments about illegal aliens, is he now xenophobic? If not, why not? Perhaps, UniteCloud is more into dividing people than uniting people. This indicates that:
When the doors close on UniteCloud, I'll only have 1 thing to say: Good riddance!

CORRECTION: After Jeff Johnson read the article, he corrected me on something:

A Stearns County Deputy was posted at LSS quarterly meetings preventing the public from attending until Councilman Johnson and the public strenuously objected. The meetings were eventually opened up to the public. Johnson garnered national attention by participating on a four-member panel in Washington, DC hosted by the Center for Immigration Studies.
