Ronny Jackson vs. David Carlucci, Hur Report edition

Rep. Ronny Jackson, (R-TX), isn't afraid to offer his opinion on presidents' mental state of mind.  At one point, Rep. Jackson was Dr. Jackson. He administered a cognitive test to Donald Trump. It's worth noting that he also served presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. Dr. Jackson isn't a mean-spirited man but he isn't shy, either.

Late last year, Dr. Jackson said of Joe Biden "It's a grueling job, both mentally and physically. This man can't do the job. He's proven to us every single day that he can't do the job, but this is going to get worse."

This week, Dr. Jackson said "He’s our Commander-in-Chief, our head of state and you know, if he can’t stand trial, because of his cognitive issues, I mean, it goes without saying that he can’t be the president of the United States. And so then he gets on TV and he tries to refute this. And he makes it even worse."

Dr. Jackson isn't alone in thinking that Biden isn't fit for doing the job. Fox News political analyst Gianno Caldwell thinks Biden isn't capable of handling the stress of the job. Yesterday, he was part of a panel for Harris Faulkner to talk about the ramifications of the Hur Report. The Democrat on the panel was David Carlucci. Watch Gianno's reaction when Carlucci tried shifting into full-spin mode:

Carlucci said that he didn't think the Thursday night presser would have much of a political backlash. Approximately 1:55 into the Youtube, Gianno emphatically reacted when Carlucci said "I don't think there is much of a political backlash, maybe a couple of days of focusing on ageism but the reality is that this is a double-edged sword for the GOP."

Democrats are trying to play this as though Trump is suffering as much from dementia as Biden is. I'm no fan of Trump's but that spin is laughable. Democrats have said that Trump got words wrong when he spoke. That's true but that isn't what's happening with Biden. To my Democrat friends, when's the last time Trump had difficulty figuring out how to exit the stage after a speech? When's the last time this happened to Trump?

Dr. Marc Siegel spoke about this yesterday. He said that a person's short-term memory is the first to go when dementia hits. After that, as the dementia progresses, it starts affecting the person's long-term memory. As I wrote this week, Biden talked about going to the 2021 G-7 meeting and having a conversation with French President Mitterand. Mitterand died in 1996.

Democrats have characterized Biden's misstatements as gaffes. That isn't what's happening with Biden. Ian Sams, the mop-up guy for the White House Counsel's office, tried spinning the Hur Report this way:

The President spoke powerfully about this last night. After a long investigation that turned over every stone and explored every theory, the special counsel decided that there was no case there. Notably, he said this would be true whether President Biden was president or a private citizen.

The special counsel’s assignment when he was appointed was to determine whether any criminal conduct occurred. He found it didn’t. That was the finding. The case is closed.

That's the hyper-abridged version of the Hur Report. Intentionally omitted from Sam's briefing was that Biden "willfully retained classified information." The only thing keeping Biden's behind out of jail is that, in Hur's opinion, Biden wouldn't be found competent to stand trial.

Sams' whitewash attempts to make it sound like the special counsel found no evidence of wrongdoing. Hur's report said that Biden had willfully retained classified information, then didn't store that information properly. The chances of this derailing Biden's re-election bid increased significantly this week. To hear Sams tell it, though, Biden is as guiltless as a choirboy.
