Joe Biden's LNG disaster
The article opens by saying "A robust chorus of congressional Democrats, business leaders, and Republicans, as well as international allies, are calling on President Joe Biden to undo the pause he placed on liquefied natural gas exports. Almost in unison, they say his decision actually undermines his climate agenda, jeopardizes national security, empowers Russia and Iran, and creates a schism with allies who depend on this clean energy from the U.S. to fuel their countries."
The tip-off in the article comes in the next paragraph. That's where it says "Longtime Ohio Democratic Rep. Tim Ryan, who retired last year, admitted in a post on X that the halt was 'a major political issue that the D’s have just put themselves squarely on the wrong side' and would hurt his party’s ability to win seats in the Great Lakes Midwest."
It's worth noting that 2 of the most vulnerable senators not named Manchin are from Ohio (Sherrod Brown) and Pennsylvania (Bob Casey).
The Marcellus Natural Gas Formation stretches from New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, Virginia, Ohio and Maryland. Democrats can't afford to lose either the Ohio or Pennsylvania seats. Couple those seats with West Virginia and perhaps Montana and New Mexico and Democrats have the potential for a tough night in November.
This Bloomberg news segment highlights what's at stake with Biden's decision:
Joe Biden is trying to please 2 masters, which the Bible says is impossible. He's attempting to please environmental activists by shutting things down. Biden's also trying to keep moderates and independents on his side. Ultimately, he's likely to lose both to a certain degree.By comparison, Trump doesn't have that difficulty. He just has to say he wants to lower families' home heating bills while hurting Russia's exports to Europe. After 2 years of high home heating prices and high inflation, I'm betting more people will vote for cheap prices than for straddling a fence between environmental activists and Blue Dog Democrats.
I would say the larger problem is that he is slavishly devoted to only one master, the false God of man-made global warming. He is constantly fighting the reality, which is that CAGW is "the most successful pseudoscientific hoax in history." It simply does not exist as any threat to humankind.
ReplyDeleteApparently, you aren't noticing that Biden is momentarily making a jaunt in the fossil fuel direction. It isn't that he's a fossil fuels true believer. It's that he's trying to keep those voters on his side.
DeleteI Had NOT Noticed (Do tell), and I am betting that the vast majority of voters are either not going to notice, or recognize it for the political stunt it is, or simply ignore it because his "war on energy" is already baked into the public's perception of this doddering old fool.
ReplyDeleteBiden pulled that stunt the same week that G. Soros announced he was dumping $100,000,000 into TX to turn TX blue. Nice timing, right?
