Adam Smith's Invisible Hand whips Joe Biden again
Ryan Saavedra's article opens by saying "President Joe Biden is reportedly preparing to ease its push to force electric vehicles onto American consumers as consumer demand for the vehicles remains low, dealerships have expressed serious concerns, and automakers have had to cut production and revamp production of gas vehicles."
That's understatement
I'd consider it understatement to say "The New York Times reported that the move was a “concession to automakers and labor unions” from the administration as it was forcing “limits on tailpipe emissions” to force Americans to switch from gas-powered cars to more expensive electric vehicles, which often have performance issues in adverse weather conditions. The serious lack of charging stations, and the time it takes to recharge electric vehicles, are among other top complaints from consumers."
Practicality matters
Practicality and process matter. Cold weather drains EV batteries in a hurry. A trip across South Dakota, North Dakota or Montana might take a week. A trip from International Falls, MN, to Duluth, MN, might take a day+. Considering the fact that they're just in the planning stages of installing charging stations on I-90 (South Dakota), I-94 (North Dakota) and in Minnesota, this initiative was never ready for primetime.
This is a fancy way of saying 'people don't want EVs':
This is additional proof that Joe Biden is a socialist. The markets set prices and demand. That's how free market capitalism functions. Socialism fails because the social planners essentially say 'You must do this, you can't do that.' Adam Smith's Invisible Hand whips Joe Biden's socialism again. It always will.
Here is the crazy thing: replace 100% of the cars on the road with electric vehicles, and the total effect on the climate will be ZERO! Nevermind all the myriad other undesirable (and largely impossible) side effects, these mandates do not even begin to solve the problem for which they are mandated!
