Angie Craig to Joe Biden on border security: Secure our border? Seriously?

Now that it's obvious that Joe Biden's border policies are becoming a political crisis for Democrats, it's fun watching Angie Craig vote with MAGA Republicans to rebuke the administration's border policies. This isn't a deeply held belief of Craig's. The proof is that she didn't say a word the first 30+ months of the administration about the administration's open border policies.

Rep. Jared Golden, (D-ME), issued a statement saying "Most of us understand that nations need borders, those borders should be secured, and we should enforce the immigration laws on the books. Most of us also understand that those seeking entry to our country deserve an orderly and predictable immigration process. Right now we have problems on both fronts." Then he added "llegal immigration threatens our national security and undermines American jobs. It’s time for Congress and the Biden administration to come together and pass legislation to meaningfully address issues at the border. It should be a top priority in Washington, just like it is in most of America."

Notice the tip-off that these Democrats' votes criticizing Biden is as phony as a 3-dollar bill? He said "It’s time for Congress and the Biden administration to come together and pass legislation to meaningfully address issues at the border." He didn't say "It’s time for Congress and the Biden administration to come together and fund building the Wall, give Border Patrol a big raise and to double the size of Border Patrol." That would tell me that they'd had a legitimate change of heart about border security.

What's discouraging is having legitimate conservative border hawks like Laura Ingraham beating the same dead horse in order to create ratings for her show. That's what she did in this interview with Speaker Johnson:

Speaker Johnson has held fast to requiring H.R. 2 being part of any Border/Ukraine bill. Despite that, Ingraham kept talking about how she's worried that McConnell and the Democrats were continuing to pressure Speaker Johnson. In addition to being repetitive, it insinuated that she didn't trust Speaker Johnson. There's no proof that the Speaker won't continue to hold fast but, hey, Ingraham's angle is to stoke fear that he will for a few extra viewers.

I don't watch her program because she's usually a world-class bitch. She gets started on a subject and she doesn't let go. But I digress. Let's return to the border.

This says everything:

The bipartisan vote took place as impeachment hearings against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas get underway this month and on the same day congressional leaders met with Biden at the White House to discuss a national security funding request for U.S. allis such as Ukraine and Israel, as well as border security while the Democrat-led Senate tried to hash out a deal.

"I told President Biden: it’s on you," House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said in a post to X. "Your policies created the border crisis. Your executive action can end it. House Republicans will continue to demand transformative policy change and hold this administration accountable until the border is secure."

First things first. Ukraine military aid, which is different than Ukraine funding, is essential. Russia must be defeated. That being said, our border must get secured first. That doesn't mean some 'bipartisan' deal that's long on spin and short on funding the wall and shorter on changing Biden's policies must be rejected in a New York split-second. If Biden, Sen. Schumer and Mr. Jeffries won't budge on that, then Republicans should campaign on border security.

Finally, Angie Craig's vote for this resolution is as dishonest as she is. She doesn't care about border security. She's too busy changing the electorate.
