Iran declared war on the U.S. Why haven't we retaliated?

Alan Dershowitz is exactly right. Iran has declared war against the U.S. According to Prof. Dershowitz, "Iran has now engaged in a deliberate act of war — casus belli — on numerous occasions against the United States. Most recently it was responsible for critically injuring an American soldier." While that's true, what's more true is that Iran didn't declare war against us this October. Iran declared war on the U.S. when Iran invaded the U.S. embassy in Tehran, Iran on Nov. 4, 1979. They've been at war with us ever since.

Additionally, Dershowitz said "Since Hamas' attack Oct. 7 attack on Israel, estimates run as high as 100 Iranian-backed attacks across the Mideast on U.S. bases, ships, and service personnel. Iran has acted through its surrogates and proxies, including the Houthis, Iraqi militia, Hezbollah, and others. Under the laws of war an act of war can be committed by the principal nation itself, which in this case is Iran, or surrogates acting on its behalf, with its approval or support."

That's ancient history, though. What isn't ancient history is this question: why has Joe Biden kept our troops in harm's way without letting Iran know that the U.S. won't put up with the IRGC's and the Houthis' attacks. Little pinprick attacks in the middle of Iraq is the desert version of Russia's "minor excursion" into Ukraine. It means nothing to Iran's mullahs.

Joe Biden is the biggest blowhard in U.S. presidential history. He sent 2 air craft carrier strike groups to the eastern Mediterranean right after the Oct, 7 Masscre. They're still sitting there. They haven't attacked Iran after the Houthis tried constricting shipping lanes in the Red Sea or the Persian Gulf.

The Houthi (Iran's proxies) attacks continue unrestricted. Their drones get shot down? Who cares? They'll manufacture more. Hit their military leadership with overwhelming lethal force twice and they'll take notice. There won't be a need for third time. The Houthis will back off at that point. (If they don't, then bomb them back into the third century.

Business as usual?

Apparently, the Houthis haven't been deterred:

The best way to stop the Houthi rebels is by crippling Iran. That can happen through military strikes, cyber-warfare, economic sanctions or a combination of the aforementioned possibilities. Iran's proxies rely heavily on Iran's funding. When the U.S. paints Iran into a tight corner, that puts Iran in a difficult situation.

This administration needs to show the world that they're serious about protecting our allies. It doesn't require full-scale war. It just requires taking out Iran's high-value targets.

When Trump took out Qassim Soleimani, pundits predicted Iran attacking U.S. assets in retaliation. That didn't happen because they worried about the U.S. retaliating against Iran's retaliation. It's time the U.S. declared war on Iran. Let them know it's a multi-front, multi-faceted war using all of our weapons, whether that's cyber, economic, military or nonconventional weaponry. Let's let the mullahs worry about the war being waged against them for a change.
