Colorado ruling is proof Democrats prefer autocracy over democracy

When Joe Biden announced that he was seeking the Democrat nomination for president in 2020, he said that he wanted to restore the soul of America. Most of us thought that sounded like BS at the time. With the passage of time, we now have abundant proof that Biden didn't give a damn about restoring America's soul. How can he restore it when he's likely quietly praising Colorado's Supreme Court ruling that defies a half-dozen foundational legal principles?

This WSJ editorial puts the wood to Colorado's Supreme Court, saying "Mr. Trump’s behavior after the 2020 election through Jan. 6 was disgraceful, and it is one of several reasons not to trust him with so much power again. It was an attempt to obstruct the counting of electoral votes. But the evidence is unpersuasive that this amounted to an insurrection or rebellion under the statutory or constitutional meaning of those terms."

I agree with every word of that paragraph but that's just the start of things. First, Mr. Trump's trial for J6 offenses hasn't started. In the U.S., people, even dastardly Republicans, are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Democrats don't seem to think that:

Next, Coloraado's Supreme Court insists that it has jurisdiction to make this disgusting ruling. That's despite the fact that they're 2,000 miles away from the supposed scene of the crime. Third, no evidence has been presented in this case. No witnesses have testified in this case. Most importantly, the J6 indictment doesn't charge Trump with insurrection or anything approaching that. That alone eliminates the Fourteenth Amendment argument.
The Colorado disqualification shows how Democrats are determined to make 2024 an election decided by lawyers and courts, not by voters. They seem to believe this is the way finally to banish Donald Trump from politics, but have they been paying attention?
This isn't surprising. Barack Obama started that practice before he ran for the Senate. Further, when's the last time Joe Biden actually listened to oil pipeline workers or Border Patrol agents? Being president doesn't just mean giving speeches once every couple of weeks. It means listening to everybody.

Democrat pundits live in their echochambers, too. Watch what happens, though, when Jessica Tarlov tries using DNC takling points on Hugh Hewitt:

During her turn, Jessica Tarlov said "the 3 dissenting justices didn't refute the idea that Donald Trump played a part in this insurrection..." That's rich. The indictment was filed in Washington, DC. The ruling was handed down in Colorado and the one-lady jury (apparently, that's how Ms. Tarlov sees herself) lives in NY City.

Ms. Tarlov's argument is foolish at best. The insurrection that Ms. Tarlov spoke of is 100% fiction. Justices deal with evidence, the Constitution and laws, not fiction.

Bonchie nailed it in this RedState article:

What's in that post by Biden is the same logic that has been used by tyrants throughout history. Crazed dictators always suggest that they must save the people from themselves. In this case, the president and many on the left believe that to save democracy, they have not just a right, but an obligation to destroy it. Laughably, as they tell you who you can and can't vote for via legal machinations, they demand to be treated as liberators.

Think about how ironic just the first part of Biden's statement is. He says that Trump poses a threat to the country's "right to choose." He's talking about abortion, obviously, but what is more fundamental when it comes to choice in a democracy than the right to choose who you vote for? The same goes for his mention of voting rights. It's not Donald Trump who is curtailing voting rights. It's Biden and the far left who are either directly trying to strip those rights from Americans or passively letting it happen without pushback.

Democrats love democracy when they get to exercise mob rule, aka the tyranny of the majority. Just look at the Minnesota Senate, where the DFL had a 34-33 seat majority. Despite that extra-slim majority, the DFL still passed everything from their ultra-leftist playlist without a single Republican vote. In fact, there wasn't a single GOP amendment adopted to any of the DFL's radical bills.

That sounds like a railroad, not a democracy. The next time a Democrat insists that they're pro-democracy, ask them why they don't want Trump on the ballot.
