Did Derek Chauvin get a fair trial?

Until this morning, I'd accepted that Police Officer Derek Chauvin had gotten a fair trial. That's changed since watching the video from the officers' body-worn cameras at the scene of the arrest. The video is part of this article. According to the article, the documentary was crowd-funded and "was produced by Alpha News journalist Liz Collin and directed by Dr. J.C. Chaix."

The article quotes Ms. Collin as saying "I saw for myself the dangerous narrative the media and politicians pushed in the days following the death of George Floyd. We are still paying the price three years later." Dr. Chaix is quoted as saying "Hopefully, this documentary will show how politicians and the media desperately ignored even the most basic facts while turning their backs on reasonable doubt and common sense."

As for the video from the body-worn cameras, multiple times it showed George Floyd saying 'I can’t breathe.' Floyd also said that he didn’t want to get into the squad car because he was claustrophobic. At another time, he asked if he could ride in the front seat. That request was denied. Before Chauvin arrived on the scene, Floyd said "I just want my hands free." Floyd also was heard saying "I'm not that kind of guy, man." Floyd said those things after Officer Keung finds a marijuana pipe on him. Floyd also said "I just had COVID." It wasn't until minutes later (and lots of struggling started by Floyd) that Officer Tou Thao and Officer Chauvin arrived on the scene.

Watch this segment before watching Jesse Watters' interview of Liz Collin:

Next up, watch Watters' interview of Collin:

Let's be perfectly clear about this. It's possible that the media lied through their teeth to push a political agenda that corrupt politicians like Tim Walz and Jacob Frey utilized in their re-election campaigns and that Derek Chauvin committed a heinous crime. While that's possible, it's difficult to buy the notion that then-Minneapolis PC Arradondo told the truth on the witness stand after watching his officers' interviews with Ms. Collin.

A fair trial would've included, at a minimum, a vigorous investigation into former Police Chief Arradondo for potentially perjuring himself on the stand. If Minneapolis' leaders wanted a fair trial, why did they settle Benjamin Crump's lawsuit against Minneapolis the day before they started picking jurors? Did they do that to signal that Chauvin was guilty? That's certainly been speculated. That's something that I can't dismiss as a conspiracy theory.

Liz Collin referred to her husband as the former PC of the Minneapolis police union. She left out the fact that John Thompson, a then-DFL candidate for the Minnesota state legislature, led a profanity-laced protest in Liz Collin's front yard:

This protest doesn't prove Officer Chauvin's innocence. What it does, though, is cast a suspicious shadow on the political motivations of Gov. Walz, Mayor Frey, aka Boy Toy Frey, MN AG Keith Ellison and PC Arradondo. Saying that they're corrupt is like saying that the Bidens have lots of connections with foreign business leaders.

I wouldn't trust any of these people as far as I could throw them if I had 2 broken arms and a bad back and I wasn't that strong to begin with. None of these leaders has the pedigree of integrity.

Did Derek Chauvin get a fair trial?

I can't say with certainty that Officer Chauvin got a fair trial. Perhaps he did but that's questionable. Liz Collin has dooe truth-loving Minnesotans and truth-loving Americans a great service by not letting this information disappear without examination. We owe Ms. Collin a debt of gratitude for that.
