If I had to craft a line for Biden's EV initiative, it'd be "build something the American people don't want and they'll teach you the importance of Adam Smith's Invisible Hand." I know that isn't the pithiest rejoinder but it's the truth.
Ford CEO Jim Farley
"It's been a challenging situation, for sure," Ford CEO Jim Farley said during the company's third-quarter earnings call after posting greater losses than expected on EVs. "Matter of fact, our business is never short of challenges, especially right now with the evolution of the EV market and new global competitors from China, as well as the technology disruptions."In short, this is something whose time might never come, at least on the scale that Biden wants. People get it that Biden's Green New Deal push isn't well thought out. The infrastructure isn't close to getting built. Most importantly, it takes forever to charge the batteries. On top of that, the EVs get little mileage per charge. What part of that sounds appealing?
Finally, EVs are expensive to purchase. To top it all off, most of what's needed to maufacture EVs is either built in China or the supplies chains run through China. Here's the proof from the front lines:
