Michelle Lujan Grisham's Constitution-hating dictate
The Second Amendment, the right to keep and bear arms, is considered a natural right because people have had the right to defend themselves and/or their families since the beginning of history. Since the right preceded the formation of government, government can't take this right away. Apparently, Gov. Grisham isn't interested in where our rights come from. That makes Gov. Grisham a typical Constitution-hating Democrat.
Gov. Grisham expects to take criticism for this decision. Despite that expectation, she said "When New Mexicans are afraid to be in crowds, to take their kids to school, to leave a baseball game –when their very right to exist is threatened by the prospect of violence at every turn– something is very wrong." I might be wrong but it sounds like New Mexico's violence problem might be attached to illegal aliens. This news segment is stunning:
According to the local reporter, Gov. Grisham "doesn't expect criminals to follow the order." Then what's the sense of issuing this dictate if criminals won't obey the dictate and law-abiding citizens already are obeying the dictate?Lujan Grisham referenced several recent shootings in Albuquerque. Among them was a road rage shooting Wednesday outside a minor league baseball stadium that killed 11-year-old Froyland Villegas and critically wounded a woman as their vehicle was peppered with bullets while crowds departed an evening game. That won't solve anything but it's a great way to get in a little virtue-signalling while violating thousands of people's constitutional rights. The other thing this shows is that Gov. Grisham thinks that the government, not Nature's God, give us our rights. The right to keep and bear arms existed before the federal government existed. In fact, the right to defend oneself existed before colonial government. The governor also cited the August shooting death in Taos County of 13-year-old Amber Archuleta. A 14-year-old boy shot and killed the girl with his father's gun while they were at his home.
If we don't stand up to mini-authoritarians like Gov. Grisham, we'll have a lawless frontier. It's apparent that Democrats are more worried about doing something that makes them feel good rather than doing something effective.
When he returns home from the G20 meeting, I expect Joe Biden to praise Gov. Grisham for standing up to the NRA or something to that effect.Today I issued a 30-day ban on the open & concealed carrying of guns in Albuquerque and Bernalillo County. Gun violence is killing between 2 and 3 children every month in NM - every single one of these deaths is unconscionable and they must stop. https://t.co/KJdXUMBVaG

Let's see now.... We have laws against illegal gun possession, against assault, against murder, but if we just had a law against people HAVING guns we would all be safer??? How about enforcing the laws we already have, instead?
ReplyDeleteJerry, C'mon, Man. That's too much common sense. Democrats love passing laws. Democrats don't like enforcing laws.
