Ken Buck's weasel words

During his appearance Sunday night on Trey Gowdy's Sunday Night in America, Rep. Ken Buck let loose with a bunch of questionable statements. Some specialized in weasel words. Finally, after spending what seemed like an eternity, Rep. Buck finally revealed his true intentions. He said that Republicans shouldn't pursue an impeachment inquiry. He said that Republicans should let the 3 committees investigating Hunter and Joe should continue.

To be fair, Trey Gowdy opened the segment by saying some provocative things that were the verbal equivalent of clickbait. He asked "Is this payback for what Democrats did to President Trump? Have we entered an era where winning the presidency almost guarantees you will face impeachment?" That's such a shame. I expect more from Gowdy. Those questions call into question the legitimacy of the investigation. It's as if Gowdy hadn't paid attention to Devon Archer's deposition testimony, which I wrote about in this post:

Mr. Goldman: By ‑‑ because of additional capital or –

Mr. Archer: Just because of the brand.

Mr. Goldman: Well, I don’t understand. How does that have an impact?

Mr. Archer: Well, the capabilities to navigate D.C. that they were able to, you know, basically be in the news cycle. And I think that preserved them from a, you know, from a longevity standpoint. That’s like my honest ‑‑ that’s like really what I ‑‑ that’s like how I think holistically.

Mr. Goldman: But how would that work?

Mr. Archer: Because people would be intimidated to mess with them.

Mr. Goldman: In what way?

Mr. Archer: Legally.

Archer testified in his deposition that Joe Biden was "the Brand" and that his value to Burisma was to intimidate investigators, mostly Viktor Shokin, from investigating. In light of Archer's straightforward deposition testimony, it's clear that Joe Biden, then the VP, played a vital role in Burisma's survival.

This isn't speculation. It isn't circumstantial evidence of Joe Biden's intimate connection to Burisma. This is eyewitness, direct testimony of Joe Biden's intimate participation in Burisma's operations.

Here's the video of Buck's interview with Gowdy:

Early in the interview, Buck said "The evidence against Hunter Biden is very strong. There is very little evidence that links Hunter Biden to Joe Biden." Apparently, Buck doesn't think that it's important that Archer, who also sat on Burisma's board, had a strong connection to Joe Biden. Later, Buck said "The theory, I guess, is that Burisma paid money to Hunter Biden so that Joe Biden would fire Viktor Shokin because Shokin was investigating Burisma. One, there is little or no evidence that Shokin was investigating Burisma."

Again, I refer to Archer's testimony that the Burisma board told Hunter to "call DC." According to Buck, I'm supposed to believe that it's purely coincidental that 5 days after that call, Joe Biden visited Kiev, theoretically under the guise of awarding Ukraine a $1,000,000,000 loan guarantee. Remember this?

That sounds like Shokin was investigating Burisma, doesn't it? If Shokin wasn't investigating Burisma, why was Shokin fired? It's impossible to picture Joe Biden caring about Shokin if Shokin was investigating a company that Hunter wasn't associated with.

Buck says that the committees are doing a good job investigating the Bidens, which I agree with. Still, we're getting to the point where the administration will start throwing up additional roadblocks to obtain private Biden banking documents. Those committees will need the courts' help in prying those documents from Joe Biden's hands. Biden won't just hand these bank documents over to the committees. That's why an impeachment inquiry is required.

Those private bank records might provide the final pieces to this puzzle. Is Rep. Buck willing to sacrifice this investigation because he's squeamish of the word impeachment?

It's time for Rep. Buck to pull his big boy britches on. This investigation isn't about retribution for Trump. There's too much evidence pointing to Biden family corruption. If Rep. Buck isn't willing to do what's needed to finish this investigation properly, then it's time for him to go.
