Joe Biden joins the UAW strike
The White House is doing its best to spin this strike in Biden's direction. That's especially difficult when the truth is that Biden is paving the path for increased unemployment for UAW workers. The only thing that can save UAW jobs is a change in automotive policies. Anything short of that is spin.
According to ABCNews’s reporting, "President Joe Biden will join the United Auto Workers picket line Tuesday in his strongest show of support yet for union members striking against General Motors, Ford and Stellantis. Biden announced Friday on X that he would travel to Wayne County, Michigan, 'to join the picket line and stand in solidarity with the men and women of UAW as they fight for a fair share of the value they helped create.'" About 45 seconds into this video, KJP said that Biden will continue to stand with workers:
That's interesting from the standpoint that his all-in policy for EVs is killing the UAW. First, EVs require fewer workers to build. Next, the workers that are required work in plants built in right-to-work states. I'd love to hear Biden explain how that's 'standing with workers.'This won't end well for the UAW:
UAW launched its strike against the "Big 3" U.S. automakers on Sept. 15 after failing to reach a contract agreement. The union, which is conducting a "stand-up" strike, recently expanded its walk outs with 38 new locations targeting Stellantis and GM. Key among the union demands are a 36% pay increase over four years and a 32-hour work week. Thanks to Joe Biden's obsession with EVs, the UAW's push for a massive pay increase and a shorter work week, it isn't likely that the Big 3 automakers aren't likely to give ground in these negotiations. They can simply put their support behind the GOP presidential candidate, wait for him/her to drop Biden's EV obsession, then move more production to right-to-work states. The UAW will be DOA at that point.
