Remember when sports were sane? I'm old enough to remember that

I'm old enough to remember when sport -- whether it was baseball, football, basketball or hockey -- tried to entertain families. Teams understood that taking stands on the issues of the day was foolish. They knew that whatever side they took, 50% of their fans would be upset.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are a talented, controversial team. Controversy follows them wherever they go. When they were in Brooklyn, controversy definitely followed them. First, they signed Jackie Robinson, the man who broke the color barrier in team sports. Then they left Brooklyn and moved to Los Angeles, California. Brooklyn still hasn't forgiven the Dodgers for that last move.

In a stroke of genius stupidity, the LA Dodgers decided it'd be smart marketing to invite the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to be part of their Pride Night promotion. When the most predictable backlash in the history of backlashes happened, the Dodgers' management rescinded their invitation to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. According to the Nuns' website, "The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence® are a leading-edge Order of queer and trans nuns. We believe all people have a right to express their unique joy and beauty. ... We use humor and irreverent wit to expose the forces of bigotry, complacency and guilt that chain the human spirit."

This is who the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are:

Whoever thought this might be a bright idea to invite these misfits to Pride Night should be fired ASAP. Then again, whoever thought that this would be a good idea should be fired, too:
On Friday, nine-time MLB All-Star Clayton Kershaw announced a "relaunch" of another themed day at Dodger Stadium — Christian Faith and Family Day. "Excited to announce the relaunch of Christian Faith and Family Day at Dodger Stadium on July 30th," Kershaw wrote in a tweet. The Dodgers later confirmed the event and said more details will be released at a later time.

"Join us at Dodger Stadium on 7/30 for Christian Faith and Family Day. Stay after the game to celebrate and be part of a day of worship." the Dodgers official Twitter account wrote. "Stay tuned for more details."

That might've been ok if not for this:
The announcement comes after the Dodgers invited, then uninvited, and then re-invited the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. The group is self-described on its website as a "leading-edge order of queer and trans nuns."
After that fiasco, the Dodgers must've decided that the first kick of that mule wasn't enough. They went back for a second kick to make sure that the first kick hurt:

HINT: It hurt just as much. It's time for these corporations to admit that going woke is a stupid business decision. Sticking with the entertainment industry is much smarter than dabbling in the entertainment and social justice industries.
